I think that's likely. Portsmouth is very close to the IOW, so those cliffs (behind Portsmouth) seem about the right distance away. The dark finger of land in front of that is probably Selsey Bill. Nice picture.
So what age are you? Why do you think anyone older than you,and kids, who are possibly younger than you, spoil the atmosphere? What is the perfect age for people to go to a match? Are you a complete AR5E?
Some butterflies hibernate, rather than die, in winter. They can wake up and flutter around if it turns mild, but I don't know if they then die or re-hibernate.
For viewing birds of prey, a pair of 10x50s would be good, especially if you don't have a 'scope. If you can afford a pair with ED glass, try them out although it's unlikely you'll get a pair for £150. A pair of 8x magnification will be lighter, but with a smaller image.
Why not park and ride from Withdean to town centre, then bus or train to the match and back? Take the wife out for a meal and drown your sorrows after the match and get bus back to Withdean.
First home game of the season in 1955, presumably August.I was7 and thought we were playing a Polish team- it was Walsall. ( The boy who took me to that match sits a few rows in front of me in the west stand.)
