I think you must be mixing him up. Adams released him at the end of the 99/00 season. He wasn’t really an Adams type of player, and got moved out. Before that he made some of the Priestfield trips half bearable.

I recall Steve Gritt signed someone with the surname Martin in the great escape year. Signed on the basis of being a good influence in the dressing room. I think he made one appearance was absolutely terrible and stayed in the dressing room until he returned back. Might have been Dave Martin?
