This is the latest manifestation of the renewed emboldenment and entitlement that Putin has, as a direct result of Trump's isolationism.
Fortunately, Germany is taking the threat of Russia very seriously, and is re-militarising.
It might be a wait though. Putin likes to get his revenge when things have calmed down a bit. Think how long it took him to kill Prigozhin after his aborted coup.
They then allegedly had 30 face-to-face meetings before Putin had him killed.
How do you know she has 'undoubtedly learnt her lesson'?
Given her campaign for a lighter sentence, and her appeal, it would seem she doesn't accept the gravity of her offence.
If she has a 12 year old daughter, and the death of small children upsets her unduly (?), then the judge is correct to say that the offence was worse than the average 'incitement to riot'. Even in spite of these claimed mitigating circumstances, she committed the offence for 3 hours.
'Those on her side are saying that 31 months is excessive for an offence that lasted 3 hours'

Do you want to enter a race to see who can make the most effective threats?
Perhaps it is something to do with a sense of doing the right thing. Retaining the moral upper ground, trying to tame him by persuasion and not command. And maybe a belief in the human spirit - that ordinary Russians...
If you think moving the Palestinians to Libya could go badly, or just picking a fight with Springsteen wasn't a good idea, consider that at 3pm this man is due to phone Putin in an attempt to stop the war in Ukraine.
What could possibly go wrong?
