Was quite happy on Saturday with my best ever performance at the XC Nationals in what must be some of the stickiest mud ever! Won't say it was the worst XC conditions ever because it was a lovely sunny day and nothing will ever be as bad as the Southern champs in 2014!
Having been running for more than 10 years, I finally gave in and signed up for a marathon (Manchester in 6 weeks).
I've been following the Daniel's running formula (4 week cycle for upto 40 miles per week) and today ran a 1:20:40 half marathon in fairly windy conditions.
My question is, given...
Main issue is blisters on the tips of the toes but also had a toenail go black. My guess would have been the socks being too tight and squashing the toes together as I also occasionally get blisters between toes. Never got on with the twin skin socks but might try the X socks.
Also didn't...
Anyone have any tips or recommended socks for long runs.
Not sure I'm going to have any toes/toenails left by the time Manchester comes around!
Pretty sure shoes are ok size and haven't previously had loads of issues but these long runs are killing my toes.
I have size 12 feet with...
Possibly unwisely on a day that was supposed to be a short easy run on the plan, I managed to get a respectable marker down for the year with a 18:49 at Nonsuch parkrun (AG 72.01%), will definitely pay for it on the long run tomorrow morning!
Think when you get to brown you have to be able to do both, which is a problem for me as I struggle with contours and my compass work isn't muc better!
After the tumbleweeds from here had cleared when I asked for opinions on them I bit the bullet and bought these for my Manchester Marathon attempt, now does anyone know where I can get a running vest version of our away kit?!
Right, I'm going all in for the Manchester Marathon.
I've had a pair of Alphaflys in my basket for 2 days now, should I 'just do it' or would I be wasting my money?
Sounds good, should be challenging without being really difficult! Make sure you pay attention to the scale of the map and try to keep track of where you are at all times
What colour course are you doing? I made the mistake of choosing based on the distances, the longer courses are also the ones where the navigation is more difficult (e.g. the controls are often near path junctions for the shorter courses and in the middle of a bit of scrubland for the longer...
I joined a local orienteering club during lockdown as I thought it would be a bit of fun and unlike running events they were still able to take place due to the nature of the events. Unfortunately I can't really help in terms of advice because my navigation skills are woeful!
