We change formation and line up every week bar the few that seem to be nailed on starters. I genuinely don't understand what we do in training, because we can't finish. So we can't be doing too much finishing training. We can't defend, so surely we're not doing any defensive training.

No, but the manager has to show tactical nouse and getting the best out of what he has. We stayed up twice in the row with a weaker team. This is down to team selection and tactics.
