[Politics] Safeguards on food standards have been removed.

The original post in this thread is a quote from Caroline Lucas, in which she implies that we have compromised on our environmental protections, animal welfare or food standards, and thus the promise not to has been broken. This is...a lie. That hasn't happened. Peoples conclusions, if they...

So, let's recap. You all believe that chlorine washed chicken and hormone-treated beef should be banned in the UK. Chlorine washed chicken and hormone-treated beef has been banned in the UK. Chlorine washed chicken and hormone-treated beef continues to be banned in the UK. Chlorine washed...

[Politics] Safeguards on food standards have been removed.

Didn't this thread start with the assertion that the government had done something (reduce or remove food saftey standards) which they had infact not done? You would also make a great politician.

I won't have the choice. Chlorine washed chicken is illegal in this country, nothing has changed about that.

Right. So the fact that there is no evidence in support of believing something, doesn't mean you shouldn't believe it, right? Yeah this is kind of my point. People start with the conclusion, "the government is evil", then work their way back from their. If the facts don't actually matter to...

Well you've got me. I certainly can't argue with that.

This is all a bit irrelevant anyway. Chlorinated chicken is illegal in the UK. The UK government has never shown any intention of changing that.

Fair enough. I should have said Food Saftey and Quality score. In terms of saftey alone, difference is infact 0.5% in favor of the UK. 99.5% vs 100% on saftey. (-0.5% because of "percentage of population with access to potable water")

The next line of that post... "the Global Food Security Index compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit, for example, rates the US above the UK for “quality and safety” of food."

When I mentioned political spin at it's finest, well this is political spin at it's weakest. I appreciate you sharing your theory, and implying that I was being deliberately disingenuous in my post. I never said it was about "caring so much about poor countries". Trading with the developing...

[Politics] Safeguards on food standards have been removed.

Not sure what you think this proves? First, Greenpeace are a campaigning organization. Second, their article only states that a) the UK will come under pressure from other nations to allow for certain controversial food products. We know that. b) The UK would face challenges "in upholding the...

So much ignorance in this discussion. Food standards have not been removed. We have some of the highest food standards in the world. Although, incidentally, not as high as the U.S. "the Global Food Security Index compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit, for example, rates the US above the...

[Albion] So, which manager has given or gave the best post match interviews?

I like Potter in his post match interviews. One of the few managers who comes across as a genuine person. Never drama. Never "politics". Never overly emotional. Calm, rational, grounded.

I think some fans just want big splashes on big players so they have something to willy wave about to fans of other clubs.
