Bad set of results last night. Sheff U now having a wobble. With Burnley v Sheff U to come, time's running out to condemn Leeds to the playoff lottery.
I know it's been covered ad nauseum on here but, by the nature of football, many penalty decisions are subjective. All VAR does is offer a load more angles for us to debate - the two non-penalties from last night are a case in point; we can discuss them forever but, there is no definitive...
Yes, it's all hindsight, of course. I just think if Bart had put Rashford under more pressure, he may not have scored. Not in any way blaming Bart, the high line and poor positioning/awareness of the defence have that honour.
Had Bart committed to it I'm pretty sure he'd have got there before Rashford, or at least put some pressure on him. As soon as Bart hesitated it gave Rashford a free run on goal, and you'd expect him to score more times than miss, in that situation.
Extremely poor defending for this level. You'd be embarrassed getting caught out like that playing down the park. We do have a habit of just switching off defensively, and it happens too often.
Can't say we didn't create chances. Sadly, we don't have the quality of strikers other clubs have. But largely undone by three counter attacks, helped by poor defending.
Not looking forward to Saturday, at all.
