Stevenson explicitly draws on Piketty's work and reaches the same conclusion. Eg 'tax wealth or we are f*cked'. Piketty is brilliant, but will never be able (or willing) to communicate his ideas in the way that Stevenson does. Zucman is better, but, as this thread shows, Stevenson can cut...
He's been around for several years, certainly not 'out of nowhere", but I guess whatever he says is now resonating more and more with people. And his book doing well has brought him more attention. And he's probably getting better at saying what he says.
'Dominant' model in large parts of the world for sure. But there is a huge diversity in economic thinking in the UK and globally which for me gets lost in the public discourse ('who shall we ask to comment on these economic policies...I know, let's call the IFS... again'). The most successful...
Indeed, see the critiques above.
Somewhat predictable that the main critique seems to be 'he wasn't as good as he says'. Clearly he has an ego, but reading around this seems that it depends (inevitably) on what criteria you use. It is telling that what seems to upset other traders most is not...
Are these transferable? Not totally clear from the website, so i await the wisdom of NSC.I am now able to go, and keen, but missed out so if anyone has a ticket but can't go, and if there is any way to transfer...let me know
(This is to the beamback, not the game, obviously)
Don't tend to post on these threads much - despite having some fairly strong views.
Because other people are able to articulate my views better, and with greater authority:
Bollocks to that. I'm not going to base all my footballing prefences on what might be best for us. We need to look after ourselves and if we want a European place, we need to play well enough,. Not rely on cup results. I'd be delighted to see Bournemouth beat city. And, indeed, to see them win...
I've always liked the idea of penalties BEFORE the match starts. No.extra time. Everyone knows in advance who wins if time runs out on a draw. Imagine the utter chaos as the clock ticks down and the the team that lost tbe shoot out know they HAVE to go for broke.
I thought the combination of Gruda and Gomez, looked very good. Which is lucky as it turns out!
Any news on Wieffer (apologies if covered elsewhere but can't see a thread)? Injured or just rested given games coming up? Guessing nobody knows?
Very good article that. And nice to see at least one part of the 'MSM' digging beyond the 'loveable Geordies that deserve success' story.
The only bit I would take issue with is how quick he is to absolve the Newcastle supporters of any responsibility for their owners. To me, their apparent...
Can't agree with that.
Leicester is a surprisingly pleasant town. Decent, lively town centre, great food choices and a carpark with a built in king. What's not to like?
Van Nistelrooy is just awful though.
It was a glaring miss, but there was, apparently, a bobble.
FAR more importantly though, having absolutely slogged his guts out non-stop as he always does, to great effect, for the team for the whole match, he had then bust a gut to get up the pitch and into the position to score. He must have...
