Know what you mean, I loved the trancy hypnotic minimalism but was maybe expecting something a bit more edgy.
And I could lie . . . but no, the lights had come up by the time I left and no sign of the band reappearing. The raver next to me was a bit miffed when I saw him on the stairs...
Bloomin' 'eck, not another one to add to the list!
Was thinking of shooting up to London Fri to catch Earth as I missed them last time but also want to see the Leeds game.
Will also be at Nisennenmondai tonite, then JAMC Mon and Pins on Wed . . .
Hi there, thanks for alerting me to these two - must admit I'm a bit of a sucker for pretentious bollocks, and a tune's often the last thing I'm looking for.
Pleased to hear about Darren Hayman though as well, used to be quite fond of Hefner.
And I do also like what I've heard of Duke Garwood...
Cracking evening at the Green Door Store yesterday. Anyone else make it down? Managed to catch Bad For Lazarus, tremendous noisy fun. And AK/DK were terrific, sort of the mutant offspring of Suicide and Hot Chip.
Must admit I decided to blow this out for the Daevid Allen benefit at the Albert (hope I don't regret it!):

Any other old hippies going? I still have quite a soft spot for Gong.
Agreed. We managed to get tickets for The XX at the Dome a couple of years ago. I was so gutted when they switched it to the Centre I decided not to go. Kind of wish I had now.
Fair comment, it was the frontman who was a bit mouthy, the others were pretty shy and retiring. Plus at the time they maybe didn't have the material to back up the attitude. Must give the album a listen - they did seem to have improved when they were supporting can't remember who at the...
Did you see them at Horatio's on the pier during TGE 2 or 3 years ago? We thought they were a bunch of arrogant northern :censored: . . . Not sure I've entirely changed my opinion, but have to admit they've done very well for themselves.
Hi to anyone who hasn't yet come across me on the live music thread.
There's certainly a strong case for saying Kraftwerk (just to make it clear, I love 'em too) are more influential on the sound of contemporary music, and surely that's what Morley was getting at in his provocative way. Whether...
Indeed. Preferring to recall last night rather than dwell on today's result - great start to my live music year, I love their messed-up, slightly chaotic angle on that Sixties sound.
Mammut and Samaris @ Above Audio
Strypes @ Dome Studio
Snakeheads @ The Hope
(only been going a couple of years!)
Good shout
But some of the most interesting are the ones you just take a punt on - standing about 6 inches away from Spanish singer/songwriter Russian Red in a...
Sounds like it was all part of the same event (I misspoke, it was the CALVERT Gallery, btw). Did you come across a guy called Alexei Monroe at the conference, he gave a very illuminating talk on Laibach and German culture as part of last week's Kraftwerk thing. Time to renew acquaintance with...
Hi, shame I missed that! I did go to an IRWIN/NSK exhibition at the Contact Gallery in London a year or two back, wonder if it tied in?
Cheers, that was delightful, will make sure I catch them. Are you familiar with Virginia Astley from a few years back?
And do you know if the Outer Church is...
