[Music] Cover versions that should never have seen the light of day

Anything slowed down and given an added 'Millennium warble' to make gullible kids think there is emotion involved. Anything by Jamie Cullum. But particularly his assassination of Love Affair's masterpiece Everlasting Love. I'm not posting a clip.

RIP As far as I'm aware, that now leaves Olivia de Havilland (also 103) as the last remaining 'Golden Age' movie star.

    [Music] Andy Gill RIP

My all-time favourite guitarist. Played guitar on Entertainment, my all-time favourite album. Played guitar at the two best gigs I ever went to: Gang of Four at the Hammersmith Palais, 1981, and Gang of Four at the Melkweg, Amsterdam 2004. Sad times...

[Film] Films from the past that have passed by and forgotten but worth a look ?

Strange coincidence you posting about Val Guest just as I was contemplating posting about The Day the Earth Caught Fire. OK, so it's probably his best-known film and hardly "forgotten", but I watched it the other day and was struck by how spookily some his portrayals of extreme climate disaster...

My Harold and Maude DVD gets watched nearly as often as Butch Cassidy or Dinner For One at the Trufflehound kennels.

Talking of forgotten gems, the best "late period" Don Ameche film by far is David Mamet's wonderful Things Change.

The best Australian movie that few people in Europe have ever heard of is The Dish, in my opinion.

I'd agree with this. Restless Natives is the Bill Forsyth classic that Bill Forsyth didn't make. And a great soundtrack...

[Film] Films from the past that have passed by and forgotten but worth a look ?

And lest we forget, Soylent Green is set in the year 2022, which is now only 2 years away. A pretty accurate prediction of the future considering it was made almost 50 years ago.
