Love that modern development, both the quality of architecture and planting, reminds me of Dutch and Danish schemes. Cambridge has gone down that route too. Far nicer than the New England ‘Quarter’.
Kelham Island got badly flooded in (1864 and) the 2000s and still looks vulnerable to me, but this appears to be really high quality development and is blended in very well into some of the listed factory buildings that remain and have been converted. A one bed flat in the new development is going for £230k which seems steep by Sheffield standards, but the area has got 2 of the best pubs in the city, some nice cafes and a riverside walk. Some of the areas outside the ring road are incredible, and the Peak District comes into the city. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a coastline, though!

I remember you mentioning the uni drop off last year?

I’ve been most places in Britain, but just once drove through Sheffield then the Snake Pass April 1990 … a tour with an ex of all her sisters homes scattered throughout the UK. On our list is to do the Peak District and Chatsworth, as I love gardens. Always had a soft spot for Sheffield, going back to the original Human League and other bands.

There was a flood scheme built down there a few years ago. I'd guess it's meant to be safe up to something like a 1 in 100 year event. In theory.

I highly recommend the Shakespeare, which is just up the road from Kelham Island. Also the area around Hunters Bar, Eccy Road and Sharrow Vale Road.

To be honest, I could go on in this vein pretty much indefinitely.
