According to a load of clickbait sites, Wednesday is the crucial day to sign Babis Kostoulas.

If you believe them, we are in pole position, but don’t want to pay €40 million for him.

I have absolutely no idea why Wednesday is crucial,

It's the Sun. But they are quoting a fella who goes by the name of Kostas Lianos

Brighton head Gunners & United in whizkid chase

EXCLUSIVE: Brighton have moved ahead of Manchester United and Arsenal as well as a raft of other suitors for Olympiacos wonderkid Babis Kostoulas, writes KOSTAS LIANOS.
But Wednesday will be “crucial” for his future.
Olympiacos won’t sell on the cheap and will insist on a major resale clause for the versatile striker, who has a contract until 2030.
Negotiations have reached a fee of €40million (£34m), which Fabian Hurzeler’s side are currently not willing to meet despite their willingness to pay good money for the 18-year-old.
SunSport, though, understand the Greece Under-21 international’s fee could climb even higher to €50-55m (£42-46m).

It’s possibly a deadline set by us for Olympiacos to agree to a deal or not.

When a selling club let matters draw out they are wanting other clubs to enter the fold with other bids. If as a buying club you say that an offer runs to a deadline then the selling club have a yes/ no decision to make. It takes the ‘wait and see’ scenario off the table.

No idea if that’s the case here or not.

Seems unlikely we will go as high as they are asking, so unless the asking price is reduced I don't think this one will happen.

Linked to the possible Pedro departure? Seem like similar sorts of players.

One of the sources for these stories; Kostas Lianos - has been a guest on the BBC's Albion Unlimited in the past . (talking about AEK Athens etc)

I tried to find any article relating to this.
The best I could find was:

https://www.sportime.gr/podosfairo/...oulas-ti-simveni-me-ton-nearo-tou-olimpiakou/ (3 weeks old)

Regarding why Kostoulas missed the last games of the championship.
The official reason was "muscle injury".

In the article it is mentioned that : "Some (completely unspecified) believe that he has early symptoms of Pubalgia. A condition that hit some young athletes and needs treatment, but it is not something confirmed by anyone).

Olympiacos and its medical team are treating the case seriously but without haste, wanting to protect the player's health and prospects, with the aim to completely relieve the 17-year-old, who played many high-intensity games, and gradually reintegrate him

No idea if this is true, but...

Can’t see Athletic Pubalgia being in the running: he’s not going to fancy La Liga 2 at this crucial stage of his career surely.

This Approximately 90% of surgeries, both open and laparoscopic, to fix sports hernias (athletic pubalgia) are considered successful. With post-surgery physical therapy and rehabilitation, people with a sports hernia can usually fully return to their sport or activities between six and 12 weeks.
