OK Guys.
I've an appointment next week for an assessment by an anaesthetist prior to an operation I'm due to have shortly regarding my flow rate (presume it's slow).
I'm a little worried what he (she) is going to shove and where they may shove it.
Anyone else had this can tell me. Don't scare me please.

If it's what I think it is, it may be TURP.
Transurethal Resection of the Prostate, where they pass a looped wired up through the urethra and cut away any tissue in the prostate.

I've just received an email reminder from these folks that I am due a PSA re-test. It's worth any un-tested Sussex / Hampshire based male folk in the age range seeing if there's an event near them on a convenient date. I did one last year - it took less than 15 minutes out of my day, and results arrived by email a few days later. All they ask is a donation towards running the event and the test kits etc, but no pressure.

Agree 100% - I was in/out within minutes at my last one and had the results very quickly, and also get an annual reminder of my recommended test timeline. PCaSO do a fantastic job.

Slightly off topic but if we build a medical database of DNA for this where else might that go?
If your talking about whether it's in the DNA of your family, then it's a great idea to have things on record.
There's the BRCA gene 1 & 2, which is relevant to male and female in the same family, where if the males have PC, then the females might develop BC from the same gene.

For me personally, there is no trace of the BRCA gene in my family.
But on the flip side, my auntie & uncle on my dad's side both passed away from cancer.
I'm going with my dad to the Conquest hospital next week to hear results on his biopsies.
Then there's me.
Parts if my PC were sent away to Germany if places to be analysed, and the rest went yo Imperial College.

Frightening stuff!

I meant that whilst a database for medical screening would be invaluable, might plod fancy getting their hands on it? What about Musk if Farage gets his way and the NHS gets broken down and taken over by American companies?

Recently had a CT scan for my intestines and an incidental find has shown a "hypervascular lesion in the right seminal vesicle" and I've been referred to urology for a check.
No symptoms. No problems having a wee (rarely get up in the night and have a decent flow). Recent PSA test came back negative.
Got an appointment at the Urology clinic next week.
Slightly worried at this stage but hoping it's something and nothing.

Taking part in a trial to assess a new spit test for prostate cancer saved the lives of two brothers.

Dheeresh Turnbull said that traditional methods to assess prostate cancer deemed that he had a low risk of disease.

But a new spit test, which uses a man’s genes to assess the likelihood of disease, helped the 71-year-old to discover that he actually had a life-threatening tumour in his prostate.

After finding out the news, Mr Turnbull’s brother Joel Turnbull also took part in the study and found that he, too, had an aggressive prostate tumour.
