There's a relegation release clause of £40m from what I've seen Ipswich fans saying.
Exactly. If people on here think Ferguson is worth £40 million (and a lot do, still) then Delap for the same would be an absolute bargain.

However, as others have said, do doubt other clubs will offer higher wages.

Delap to Man Utd seems a good fit. Interesting to see if they have to sell to bring him in

We were never in the running. We've thrown our lot in with Tzimas

Bigger clubs will get him, should have got him when he was cheaper, no way are we in for him when we have a 19 year old coming in… ?

Albion paid £40m for Georginho and not far off that for Pedro in previous windows as we know . If we want him - sounds a very Albion signing. (Young, resale value intact, British, top flight experience, lots of potential, not the finished article)
Depends on squad plan I guess and Welbeck, Pedro, and Ferguson futures

If Ferguson can be fixed, he is a far better player than Delap. Of course, the word doing all the heavy lifting is 'if'.
I think Delap looks much better than Ferguson. To score so many goals in such a poor performing team. They had two shots on target all game last week and he still scored them. Ferguson really struggles to stay fit, play for 90 minutes and to score goals.

The second part of your comment isn't strictly true though. Ferguson has never struggled to STAY fit. He has struggled to GET fit since his mysterious disappearance with injury/illness. When he was champing at the bit to play or go on loan, Hürzeler said 'he is not as fit as he thinks he is' so he got his loan to West Ham. Lo and behold Potter has found the same thing. Ferguson is still held back by lack of fitness, match or physical and looks a shadow of his former, mentally sharp and physically strong self.

Not convinced. Delap has that extra pace that Fergie doesn't. That run he did against us at the Amex where he powered through and hit the post was very impressive.

After this season, he's going to want really high wages and will end up somewhere where they offer that... also known as "not Brighton".

We don't buy established Premier League players and this guy is no exception.

This is true. He's going to want north of £100k a week and we don't pay that. We will, however, pay £7 for a pint of Moretti.

Where clubs are looking at Delap and wondering how they can secure him, I doubt many are thinking about how they can secure Ferguson. Delap isn’t the finished article yet, which makes him even more exciting. Given the choice of the two, I’d play Delap every time.

Can see Newcastle or Villa being a good fit for him.

Apparently his preference is a team where he gets regular football, we must be his best option surely?

Clubs were thinking how they can secure Ferguson before his decline, young players especially strikers are risky signings. Imagine if a club had gone all in on Ferguson they would be heavily regretting it now.

I think we might regret not selling him when he was looking 100 million player too

Who appears to be injured as he hasn’t featured lately. The curse of signing for BHA.
As soon as our top notch, highly paid, Cat A, medical staff get the chance to heal him, with their cutting edge precision instruments such as a club hammer, a scythe and a blunderbus, the lad will be back on the field in no time
