Newmarket.
In my humble opinion you have to have a certain type of character to be a Delap, Shearer, Wright, Kane type of player.
Evan doesn't appear to have that nastiness in him so I doubt he'll ever become someone bullying defenders as I don't believe you can coach that into someone.

If he blossoms into a more cultured 15 goals a season forward then I'll be happy.
But he's too nice to be snide.

What have all those other players got in common?

Clue: they were some of the best centre forwards in world football

It’s not a coincidence.

I was watching on an unreliable stream so may have missed relevant parts of the game -just how many times did Delap push people over last night?
At least three. Someone fairly early on, someone else, then Veltman (twice) when he got booked, then someone at a corner when he should have had a second yellow. Plus possibly others.
Ps Mitrovic definitely lost his head and acted “inappropriately” a few times in his career!
Yes. A few times. Not loads in one game!

Fair play to a young lad that gets right in the face of Veltman (twice) :clap2:

Veltman and Delap were chatting together and smiling at the end of the game. Think both appreciated the way the other one played the game, just a couple of shithouses giving each other as good as they got with Veltman ultimately coming out on top, shake hands and mutual respect.

This is quite revealing! :lolol:

How many times have you seen him play then?

Haha nice try! My stream cut out a few times and I probably missed a total of five mins of the match. I never said he played well last night anyway!

I’ve seen enough of him in other games (not against us) to realise he’s a very good player. His stats this season back that up.

Can't see him coming here, surely we'll be outbid on wages
Also, Tzimas seems to have a similar profile.

That said, if potentially Ferguson and Pedro are off in the summer (one not good enough, the other too good), we’re going to have to make sure we’re left with very decent young players to support Welbz & Georgi.

That's the only possible explanation but I still can't see Delap picking us - surely Chelsea and the other usual suspects will be in for him not to mention City's reported right of first refusal

Feels like one of those scenarios where it's been deliberately leaked that we're interested, the f*ckwitted competing club (usually bigger than us)* thinks it's onto something because Brighton are interested - and then overpays to get him. Meanwhile we pick up someone else for an absolute song who turns out to be five times better.

*Everton and West Ham are the usual clubs involved here.

As per the 'got wet sham and everton written all over it' trope.
I may have even used it myself.

Looking back spending half of what we spent in summer on hom would have been more productive

He’s only very early 20s so he’s going to want to continue to start, which is why I don’t see him going back to City, yet. I don’t think we’d pay what Ipswich would ask for = £50m+. Our best chance would be to get him from the ‘big’ club for 1 or 2 seasons on loan, but we don’t do that.

There's a relegation release clause of £40m from what I've seen Ipswich fans saying.
