Cue, farmers who just found anti aircraft missiles and now want to be the Armenian peoples republic.
This one could indeed be fun and games as @SouthSaxon suggests.

Armenia did used to be a part of the Soviet Union. But then, Armenia is next door to Turkey, the two countries having lots of shared history, language, culture and idioms.

Turkey is unlikely to sit back and roll over when Russia gets involved.

Turkey and Armenia both seeking to join sounds like a recipe for Fun & Games
Yes, that would be interesting! As far as I’m aware there’s still a dispute following previous (fairly recent) wars between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Navorno Karabak - I think Russia normally sides with the latter. Both Armenia and Turkey have a border with Iran. Lots to consider for EU membership!

I imagine the tariffs malarkey may be helping to buy time for Ukraine to examine the 'really beautiful, so generous' minerals deal in detail, back and forth with suggested amendments, checking how the weapons draw down from the US stores in Poland are going, before they regrettably reject it 😬. I have the feeling they won't be getting any more weaponry if they do.
How long can they string it out for??
The split was around 50/50 between US and the rest of the world. Trumps behaviour has meant that Europe is increasing weapon supply significantly plus Turkey throwing in their suppprt, so the longer it goes on the worse for Russia and the less influence for Trump.

Glad to see this. Shouldn't have Putin supporters here

His advisors would point out that it's pointless, as Russia would simply renege on the deal when it suits them
Absolutely - we should expect Russia to renege on any “deal”. Putin has no interest in peace until he has Ukraine under total control - that’s his ultimate aim, so ignore anything he says and does that suggests otherwise.

You have just encapsulated the deep and profound long term damage that Putin fails to realise he has has done to his nation. Russia cannot be trusted. Not for generations.

It is eighty years since the end of WW2, and it is only now, fortunately with a new German government, that Germany feels able to rearm, and back it up with German manufacturing might, to counter Russian aggression. This is the benchmark for the timeframe that Russia will be in the wilderness.

But note that Russia lacks the German manufacturing heritage that it can fall on to rebuild. All Russia has is misplaced arrogance, brutality and untrustworthiness. Where will future investment come from?
