I imagine the tariffs malarkey may be helping to buy time for Ukraine to examine the 'really beautiful, so generous' minerals deal in detail, back and forth with suggested amendments, checking how the weapons draw down from the US stores in Poland are going, before they regrettably reject it . I have the feeling they won't be getting any more weaponry if they do.

Weirdly, Granny Raymondo, in occupied Zaporizhzhia, gets a Russian pension...one of the carrots (there were many sticks ) for taking a Russian passport.
We haven't given up trying to get her her backdated Ukrainian pension too.

One byproduct of this is that less demand for oil means that oil prices are DOWN (WTI 7.53%, Brent 7.03%), so this will eat into Putin's future war chest.
