3 of us off the train at 4.30 and walked straight into the terrace, flashed my Amex card and we went straight upstairs with virtually no queuing.
Free drink voucher, got served in 2 mins and we had plenty of time to drink our beer before the ko leaning on the balcony watching the big screens.
Didn’t even expect to get in at that time, let alone upstairs and get served so quickly on opening day so I say Uncle Tony has smashed it again 👏
Yet, we still have the usual moaners I see 👍
It seems to have been about the timing. We turned up at 4.40, 5 mins before the bar closed, headed upstairs, got a free beer, ordered a chicken burger, collected it instantly (it was delicious) and was in my seat in WSU by 5.00. But can imagine it was carnage earlier, hopefully improves as the novelty wears off.

At the end of the day its a bar with TV screens that cost the club a lot of money. So much excitement over it seems that most people forgot we lost an FA Cup quarter final at home !!!

I'll just mention that upstairs was rather good, after a little queuing and being let in in batches of 5 or 6. Band playing, enough seats, a free drink for card holders. Since retirement I just have the most basic Amex blue charge card, it's nothing special, but was glad of it yesterday. Also 10% off for paying with the card, so two pints of Harveys for £5.04 total.
Was told by two pensioner age & life long supporters that the price of wine in there was 70p more than normal. If that’s the case but you’re getting 10% off because you hold an Amex card then it’s all wrong. The loyalty the club ask us to show is towards the team, not a credit card company.

if correct it’s more wankery from the commercial side of the club.

A timing thing there, I guess.

We arrived at four, and it was pretty chaotic, but I mean that in a good way - lots of people eating, drinking and seemingly having a good time. The beer dispensers around the circumference all had long queues of thirsty punters and the bars looked rammed.

There was a long queue on the stairs to get up to the Amex bit, so it must have been at capacity then, so we went straight to the WSU concourse where we got served with no wait at all.

By the time you got there, a lot of folk had probably started making their way into the ground.

Well bully for you...you should have tried a dose of downstairs. It was mayhem. Poorly designed and uncomfortable. Dicks was functional and acceptable. That is an uncontrolled mess.

I went in there about 10 mins after the end of match. It was pretty busy but possible to grab seats if you were quick. Lots of beer/food being ordered etc.

screens looked amazing with a band playing upstairs but of course the atmosphere was all a bit muted. Lots of families in there ordering chicken and chips . I ordered a round via my app - as mates struggled with registering. A “here to help” helper came up and talked em through the app. Ordering via the app seemed a bit moot then as it was just as quick to rock up the bar counter and pay normally with a card. Went to the collect counter which seemed a bit frantic and they just asked me to show my order confirmation and then pulled the pints.
Straight away. So it was fine.

A few Forest fans were in there drinking but keeping respectfully quiet.

Consensus amongst a couple of my lot was that it will be absolutely terrific for the Palace beam back. One of us - who has tickets for Selhurst said he’d probably prefer to be at The Terrace if he’d has his time again. ! Better view for starters …

We drunk up - train queue to Lewes was still pretty long but then 3 x 12 carriages arrived within 10 mins or so thankfully and we were home rueing why Bart hasn’t pushed that last pen round the post.

I didn’t realise there was a women’s game on the same day as the Brentford beamback which would finish just before. I am sure they said last night that the terrace would be open for the game so I am not sure how that is going to work unless they only reopen it for ticket holders.

If its function is to reduce queues at the station, it worked for me. I left the west stand after the penalties (8:10?), walked straight to the station, straight down the ramps and straight onto the 8:25 Seaford train, and was home by shortly after nine.

This was something we were talking about before the game. It’s all very well and all that but if it affects demand for aways like Newcastle because it’s being beamed back then it’ll be a bit of an own goal.

I wonder how many more AMEX cards will be applied for as a result of the First Floor

Had at look a the Terrace before the game, downstairs was rammed and freezing in the wind, could not get upstairs as it was full. Thankfully a very small queue to access WSL, concourse there quieter than normal. Kiosk had no beers or food (why do they get this bit so wrong so often?)

The Terrace is a pinch point, though getting down past the station was easier as the crowds were either still trying to get past the Terrace or attempting to sample the Terrace offerings.

That's the spirit. Shit club. Why do we bother?

My app says my food is now ready - Sunday at 10.27am? Shall I go back to collect it?
Don't be ridiculous....

It doesn't open until 11.

* - I have no idea if it is actually open today. Probably not.

If you like overcrowding..jostling..being knocked..spilling beer..struggling to hold a conversation...queueing...and queueing..getting freezing cold in the winter...then downstairs at the Terrace is just the place for you.
I will not out of principle get an Amex card just to access the first floor. I have enough other cards thank you that are all accepted everywhere. So the Terrace ain't the place for me. It will be for others who love that crowded..noisy...lads all in it together type of environment.

Really poor service and user experience design all round. No where near enough space allocated to bar space for the numbers downstairs and the layout/order is a congestion magnet. Using the upstairs space more wisely could have helped overall if it hadn’t been decided to make it a marketing tier. The only solution with current approach I can see is to find a way to have a decent size bar serving the full range of drinks to outside customers directly so they don’t have to come in.

I can't speak for the wine but the soft drink, snacks and beers all seemed in line with stadium prices (5.60ish for harveys) so would be surprised if the same wine was sold at a higher price unless of course it isn't the same wine (these were in proper bottles so likely to be different). A bit like fosters being cheaper than moretti
