Yes it is. I was hoping this didn't count as supporting chrome. ESpecially as the only non Chromium browser I have used doesn't work properly on my phone.

Oh yeah for sure, they all run Chromium pretty much. I've used Vivaldi before and really liked it, I ended up switching to Firefox because Vivaldi didn't seem to handle mutliple tabs very well.
That was a few years ago though

I am liking it so far and the email integration thing seems to be pretty good. I am going to stick with it for a bit.
Big shout out to Meaco dehumidifiers! We have three and they worked a treat (fortunately hardly needed now as we've made various improvements to the house which have pretty much resolved the damp issues)

There are de-Googled versions of the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) - I’ve been looking into them for when my iPhone is up for replacement. There’s also a British company making handsets, they call the devices Nothing Phones, the latest iterations are just being released.
Buy your own domain and use a local hosting company. Then, as Paddy says, "the power is in your hands".

As someone who’s comfortable with Linux, I’m going to look at a FairPhone 5 and install Ubuntu Touch on it when the iPhone goes.
It’s effectively saying goodbye to the convenience of apps, and instead running everything through the browser, but I’m willing to accept a degree of inconvenience.
The various de-Googled versions of Android all have the same issues regarding:
1) if you root your phone to install them, they are a security risk.
2) the only phones that seem to allow you to re-lock the bootloader are (ironically) Google’s Pixel models, which would involve handing over several hundred pounds to one of the very organisations I’m trying to rid from my life.

The only issue with that is if you use a bank that forces use of an app although some traditional high street banks might be okay with just using via web browser.
There is also no good alternative for using Google Maps and unfortunately I follow a lot of people on YouTube and that's where I get most of my entertainment from.
I'll look into Linux Touch, I had not heard about that. The other alternative is GrapheneOS which can be installed on (Google) Pixel phones only which is based off Android but with Google services removed.
There is alternative to giving money to Google though, just buy one second hand.

Agree with most of that, though most (all?) banks offer online banking through their websites as well as through apps (there are still people who don’t/won’t have a smartphone)
Google Maps and YouTube still work through the web, I couldn’t completely remove my YouTube usage either.
Again, there’s a slight convenience hit to using the generic web interface as opposed to the app, but it’s not insurmountable, and you can set up shortcuts so it’s still just clicking once to get there.
There’s also the Here We Go mapping service, though I’m yet to locate a generic web interface for that, they seem to insist you use their apps.
There’s always AA route finder at a push.
