As per my later response, that really is an exception to the rule.
Kompany was poor at Anderlecht as well, so it really is a complete mystery.

As for Rob Edwards he’s still at Luton.
Quite a few coaches go down and are ‘well thought of’, Kompany apart I don’t recall many then go on to get a bigger job

An official approach for us to speak to McKenna hasn’t even happened yet it’s all pure speculation.

McKenna - I could take or leave, he seems a decent manager who plays good football but if Man U really want him then he's gone.

Potter - don't go back. Not only for how things ended with the fanbase but because he'd want a lot more money now. Let sleeping dogs lie.

I am however, tired of people rewriting history on here to say he was always a shit manager. He was, until RDZ arrived, our most successful manager ever, even with xG failings. We played good football and he was good at developing young players, and much more tactically flexible than de Zerbi. Potter built the platform for the subsequent success.

Who else is there? The Swedish bloke? Haise? Gallardo? I dont think the noise around McKenna is a red herring, no smoke without fire. But equally we can't compete $$$$ with Chelsea and Man U and frankly he won't be interested.

But perhaps the hyperfixation on this bloke will help the club look for other options out of the spotlight

Chat on here about our interest in McKenna has been reported and confirmed by The Times, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, The Athletic , Sky Sports, Talk Sport and Fabrizio Romano etc etc .

yes i’d be surprised if contingency options weren’t being looked at. i think potter will definitely be one, and i don’t think i personally would mind that, but given how it’d polarise the fanbase i can’t see it. and also, it does just feel a little bit lazy.

i think gallardo is definitely worth a look, but whether he’d be at all interested when he was earning 12 million a year in saudi is another matter. i would actually like us to have a look at corberan at west brom. not the most exciting on the face of it, and they didn’t do well in the playoffs, but i’ve been pretty impressed with the flexibility and adaptability of his teams. capable of playing beautiful football and likes to have possession, but also capable of shutting up shop when need be

Everton without points deductions will be mid table at worst.
Next season will be the toughest league we've faced IMHO (admittedly we have one of the strongest squads we have had but still).

It's in the Express, so I won't be clicking on it.
It does seem as though McKenna wants to go to United, but they'd need to want him. Tuchel and Poch are available, and I suspect they're both stronger candidates, but they actually need to sack ETH first. Once that's been resolved, then where McKenna is working next season will become clearer.

Yes!! Along with media reports that we have actually spoken to him/interviewed him, you'd also assume that with Barber knowing him, there might have been an informal chat before RDZ left. Plus right after the news came out that RDZ was leaving, Alex Crook (a reliable source for Brighton news) tweeted that we'd be going after McKenna and to expect things to develop quickly.

Agree, other than the 3 coming up, everyone else has a min 2 full seasons in the top flight. Think Forest really are the only weak link, everyone else had very good periods and look to have decent squads and managers.
