Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna is likely to reject any new deal amid interest from Chelsea and Brighton.

The 38-year-old is also believed to be under consideration by Manchester United if they decide to make a change with Erik ten Hag’s future in doubt.

McKenna – who is contracted to Ipswich until 2027 - is ambitious and is understood to be keen to take the next step in his career.

Talks with Ipswich are likely to take place this week and the Tractor Boys are expected to offer McKenna a new deal to convince him to stay at Portman Road.

I think this is good. If he is a sensible, grounded person who is looking for a long-term career then he would pick us over Chelsea. If he isn’t, then he’ll pick Chelsea, and that’s fine, because we probably don’t want someone like that in charge this time. We can then just move on to the next person on the shortlist.

Meet Henrik Rydstrom, the Malmo manager playing Brazilian football: ‘We try to create chaos’

I’m all in too

When describing is own playing career he said.

Our goalkeeper has a friend who thinks of me when he has sex with his girlfriend. He thinks of me to delay ejaculation. That’s how unsexy my style of play is.”

I think it makes perfect sense that his stock is higher after a promotion campaign, than after a relegation or relegation battle season. Perfect example, Steve Cooper. He was linked with us, palace and various other prem clubs after getting promotion. And that interested gradually disappeared despite keeping forest up.
Linked in the press is not really the metric here. I doubt Steve Cooper had gone down in the eyes of people that matter and know about what makes a good manager. The press, pundits and fans that blindly regurgitate what they say....yeah he will have done but that doesn't matter.
The reason he isn't linked is because the press are not talking about him as much. The reason he was linked was because the press were talking about him. That has nothing to do with whether he actually is or isn't being considered in either case.
