Didn't Sunak only get the job as no one stood against him? So wasn't elected by the electorate, not elected by his peers, and not elected by the party members, he was merely the only person in the room and given the role by default?
Hopefully she’ll lose her seat at the next GE - perhaps she knows it and is set to rise like a phoenix from the pyres of her most recent political crash and burn as a independent PoCon

Her book came this morning as I pre-ordered. I want to see what she says on this fully as I've only seen clips. However there is some validity in what she says that globally interest rates went up, in fact we lagged behind the states. I remember being on a call to the US some months before Truss came in and they were asking about mortgage rates and I said they were fine and he said just you wait, its happening here so it will come to you soon enough. He wasn't wrong.
However the way she and her lunatic of a chancellor dealt with it definitely accelerated it here which was foolish on their part. I agree with a lot of what Truss says but unfortunately her manner and personality are not in keeping with someone to be Prime Minister. Had Sunak used the same policies with Hunt as Chancellor their delivery alone would have been infinitely better and I suspect they would have taken a baby steps approach to change rather than the size 12's that Truss stamped down. The pace of change needed to be much slower. Probably if she had had the full 5 years she might have gone about it differently?
The Tories were on to a loser as soon as they started meddling with democracy and electing their own leader. You can get it away with it once, but after that it's just laughable.
I agree with others on this thread, if you change the leader and therefore PM mid term you should be obliged to call an election within 6 months. Boris had many failings but at least he had the balls to go to the country and call an election to get a mandate soon after he took the job (Elected as leader in June, called the election in October for December 12th). 80 seat majority as a result. They should have stuck by him for better or worse and then let the country decide not a few MPs who were just self focused.

Apologies if I am putting words in your mouth, by trying to second guess which bits you agree with. My guess is that a low tax economy will stimulate growth? This would probably work best with a population biased towards young people of a working age. How do you build a dynamic growing economy heavy with retirees? I realise there are plenty of oldies working and contributing to the economy in many different ways, but there are also huge numbers who can't or choose not to work.
