I agree in part, I don’t particularly enjoy the disgruntled sound bites we keep hearing, but if you thought a passionate Italian manager would sit on his hands and stay quiet then you’ve made a bit of a misjudgment.
Regarding his management of the squad, he’s been doing just that since game 1, rotating keepers, resting players etc remember when we started JPVH and Igor against AEK to keep Dunk fresh? Pedro was in and out, Adingra was a bit part player, Ferguson and Welbeck were sharing minutes, now we’re seeing the same players run into the ground as the depth isn’t there.
RDZ set an unbelievably high standard, it was always going to be impossible to replicate, injuries made it a mountain to climb. I’d like to see him try again next season, with a properly stocked, fit squad.

Given our limitations in wage budget, transfer fees, injruoes extra games in our first season in Europe (and now apparently over entitled fans) he has done a pretty good job. Ill take a top ten finish and the last 16 in Europe after such a tough season.

If can can all hold our shit (or piss) toeghter for the remainder of this season I have the feeling the next one is going to be a belter.

Long live DeZerbi and his crazy attacking tactics that struggles to produce goals. When it does, watch out!

Our midfield last season was the dogs. Look at Mac at Liverpool, he's winning them games with his creatively and passing. Caicedo not so much but as a duo they were formidable. We haven't got that currently, I'm encourged by Baleba, he's finally getting a run of games and it shows. We have young players with potential but in the Prem, they can look exposed at times. Enciso losing the ball and instead of tracking his man, was throwing his arms around at the ref, next thing we know, it's 2nil and game over.
More broadly, RDZ comments are not helpful in terms of motivating the team in my view. Everyone, including the fans, are feeling uncertain about what's going to happen in the summer. Some magic seems to have faded there. Having said that, I can understand his frustration regarding squad depth and the injuries. Posting record breaking profits probably rubs some salt in the wounds that he wasn't backed enough, perhaps.
Onwards and upwards folks, we still have a good squad, a top 10 team when all fit. This season was a learning curve for everyone!

We failed RDZ in our recruitment,
we lost our complete midfield from last year
and replaced them with 2 fee transfers, one whom is 37 , plus a youngster who has played less than 30 games .
we were always short of full backs before the beginning of the season and this was not addressed,
we have a squad where at least 3 players cannot manage a full 90 mins ,
plus all the injuries we have had this season , you can understand the season we are having ,
no wonder RDZ is a bit subdued ,
although his press conferences his always seems to be giving excuses before the matches have been played,
i Hope he stays , but he he leaves we will move on

The midfield didn't work out but I think 'we failed DeZerbi" is a little dramatic. Dahoud was possibly supposed to be McCallisters replacement but for what ever reason that didn't work out. Personally I thought it was a shrewd signing and the time. I think that Caicedo went a year earlier than expected so Baleba as his replacement wasn't up to speed yet. We couldn't turn that offer down though.

I suspect there were a few other failed transfers and dead ends in the mix too.

Our midfield quality has declined considerably. However, let’s be clear that we really had no choice but to let Alexis and Moises go. We managed to get Alexis sign a longer contract pre World Cup with a release clause enabling us to get more for him and then resisted a sale of Moises, in Jan 2023, as we wanted to secure a European place. He cleared his locker at the end of the season.
We managed to get £150m for the pair. Would we have wanted to have let them both go at the ame time. Of course not.

We replaced them with Milner, Dahoud ( two very experienced players but on a downward trajectory career wise) and a talented youngest who we paid £27m for.
In hindsight, the Milner and Dahoud signings weren’t great. A single signing of a more experienced, quality defensive midfielder would have been better but who could we have got that fitted our model.

We also failed to get another full back, and then our breakthrough player, Jack H, who started making the RB position his own, goes and gets injured.

In the summer we really must find a midfielder that will add to our quality. Will we ever have a midfield again of the quality of Alexis and Moises. Probably not.

However, we have some really talented players coming through. Bart has looked exceptional over the past few games. Baleba is getting better. Jack Hinshelwood could make the RB position his own . Joao Pedro is obviously a talent.

So we aren’t in bad shape but we really do need two things;
A quality defensive midfielder.
A motivated RDZ and if this isn’t possible someone who will step into the coaches position and take us onto the next step.

That assumption then gets louder and louder in the sports punditry world, and armchair pod cast land as its good click bait. Then people take it as fact, get sucked into it as they've heard it 8.3 times, so it must be right...

All I can see is RDZ being disgruntled about lack of players in the transfer window for some people this seems to mean "I hate it here I'm off"....

If he didn't express his feelings, I reckon we'd have threads on here about "he doesn't really say much, he must be unhappy and therefor he's leaving in the summer"....

He's one of the best managers we've had, I'm with him and hope he's here for some time. The younger players we have coming through will only get better under his leadership. Yes we need to work on things, and I hope he's doing that. But pushing the manager our the door now, with aboslutly no idea of what comes next, is simply stupid. Frying pan to fire I'd suggest.

Luckily though Bloom and Barber, who are more of a reason for our recent success than the head coach, will know what comes next so I wouldn’t worry too much.

Just listened to a post match interview from RDZ on the BBC where he talks about Adingra and the team being better next season. He was careful not to write off this season but spoke of what WE will be like next season. I don’t suppose for one minute that it will stop the hysteria on here regards his future but there you go!

On the basis that it's regularly suggested that his negative comments are due to him not being able to speak English properly, I think we should be open to the possibility that he just temporarily forgot the word for "you" and actually meant that he was f***ing off as soon as possible and it'll be our problem to deal with. :lolol:

RDZ knows next season is crucial for his reputation. It would appear he's unlikely to be at a 'bigger' club, so what he does here next season matters as much to him as it does to us.

This season - yes, perhaps we haven't moved forward as much as hoped, but we're competitive in the league (can still qualify for Europe, even if it's looking increasingly unlikely) and we did well in Europe this season, even if the way we went out was disappointing. RDZ can point to injuries, extra fixtures and lack of squad depth holding us back this season, as he often does.

But 24/25? If we're not in Europe the expectation will be a top-six finish - that expectation comes not only from supporters but from those 'bigger' watching his progress. So of course he's pushing for signings and a better, deeper squad. Maybe he's saying that publically to signal he knows what needs to happen, and it's not down to him if it doesn't. It would seem he needs to work on his tactical approach as well, and it would be good for him to acknowledge that alongside his other comments more often.

Meanwhile, Bloom has a business model and isn't about to change it radically to keep RDZ, although it's possible he was always planning to evolve the model once we were competing for/in Europe. If that's the case, maybe it's a win-win; RDZ stays and we move closer to becoming one of those 'big' clubs.
