Don’t forget the survey asked if you’d be willing to pay extra for a safe standing spot (to cover the cost of removing the seat). Obviously everyone said no they didn’t want to pay extra and PBOBE got to say the vast majority of STH didn’t want safe standing (without mentioning the questionnaire had been rigged).
Why? No need to remove the seat - can't they just leave it leave it folded up? Can always be used for a rest at half time! The cost would be putting in the rails - and yes, I'm sure the questionnaire was rigged to get the required answer!

Yes I’ve worded that slightly incorrectly but basically the survey had safe standing as an option if you were willing to pay for the works to make if “safe”.

It's grim oop north
Ideally we could just be give a massive kop-style Proper terrace. No rails. Just simple terracing like top flight rugby and leagues 1 and below in football - none of which seem to have recorded any major issues??

Weird its ok for the lower leagues and rugby.

A lovely steep north stand terrace would be incredible (in my opinion of course)

I'n in total agreement with that as I'm not suggesting that safe standing with rails should be introduced to the whole of any given stand. There will be a section - probably a decent size - of the North Stand for example, where everyone stands. Rails could be installed without any issues and provide the safety that they are designed for. For sections that have people that sit - or even a mix - leave alone.
There are issues, it is not just a case of installing rails, it includes rail seats which can be locked in the up position.

That isn't what safe standing is. You'd be installing rail seating where the seats can be in a locked position. If you are selling standing only tickets for an area then the seats are locked so no one can sit down however the ratio is that for every current two seats you'd sell three standing tickets. The issue that the club alluded to is that the escape routes/concourses etc are for the numbers we have now in the North Stand. Now I don't know if they can get that changed or if they have to make the aisles wider or whatever. The point is, if you sell the area as safe standing then no one sits.

North stand:

Move the police box, why do they need to physically see the stadium/pitch when all they are actually doing is controling and monitoring dozens of CCTV cameras? This could be housed elsewhere in the stadium.
Shift the scoreboard.
Lose the offices/rooms behind the cladding.
Expand back to the outer wall.
Voila, space for about 1k extra seats.

This won't happen as if it did they would no doubt make it more 1901......

Oh. How bizarre
Not really. If you understand the difference between safe standing and your normal seats.

If the tickets had all been sold as safe standing, the seats would be locked in the up position. For example, in an area of 3000 seats, you could accommodate 4500 standing however, I suspect that wouldn't allow a larger away attendance, they would just reduce the area available then sell tickets in for the area they have saved to their own fans at higher prices.

They were sold as seats, not safe standing!
Maybe the issue/confusion is around terminology.

All of the 'safe standing' I've experienced in away sections have had a normal seat with a rail/bar (like Brentford last night). Personally, that's what works for me.

This is from Spurs general info for aways fans.

Yep, unsafe standing
How is it unsafe though? When a goal goes in people celebrate by jumping about whether they're sitting in a seated area or standing in a seated area. Vast majority of the time folk are just stood watching the game. If standing in an area with seats is really deemed 'unsafe' then we really have lost the plot health and safety wise.

Why the sarcasm? There is no good reason for not installing them (the club would still have change from £122M), and you haven't provided one. And, to be practical about it, the shin high 'barrier' that is the back of the seat in front is a potential hazard - I felt safer on a plain old fashioned terrace with just a straightforward step down, nothing to trip over.
From answers given by PB at fans' forum events though, I get the feeling he'd rather allow bottle tops and flasks before introducing safe standing!
Why the interpretation? Only you know…
