Potter got asked about his name coming up and being linked with other clubs, and would reply, "it's just noise". He would make comments like "There has to be more to football than just money, otherwise what is the point?".
Then he f***ed off to another club for more money.
I don't think a manager saying all the right things in press conferences makes him any less likely to jump ship if he gets a better offer.
I don't think a manager looking at the exit door gives a shit whether their current club invests in the squad or not.

Since Tony Bloom took over as Chairman, our club has been on an upward path ever since. We have had several managers in that time who have enjoyed success with the players given to them to work with..... thanks to Tony Blooms extraordinary system of finding good players.

Can someone point out to me, how many of those managers who have now left, have gone on to be more successful with other clubs due to their perceived brilliance and abilities here..?

I've come back home.
I stand by my observation post Liverpool, someone has had a word in his shell like and told/asked him to rein in the veiled threats. Hopefully it will have a happy ending. I much prefer the happy enthusiastic Roberto bigging up the club and the players.
Watching the pre match press conference he has gone back to using the translator at the start of every answer. I wonder if this is either to buy a little time to work out what he is going to say or to make sure he better understands the questions. Either way this and the tempering of his responses has cooled the narrative a little.

Massive game for RDZ tonight. Although Brentford away is not easy, as a team in 15th place who have a smaller squad and have had worse luck with injuries than us this season (plus the Toney suspension), it’s one of the more winnable games we have left in our difficult run in.

Lose tonight and we really could limp towards a disappointing lower mid table position at the end of the season which would not do his ambitions any good at all. He can’t use his perceived lack of investment from the club or the injuries excuses against Brentford either.

Here is the big secret that seems to have been missed.

Because Tony Bloom is a genius and can keep his gob shut, even to the point of keeping the volatile (but lovely) manager in the dark.....

We are cash rich.

Lots of clubs are now under FFP scrutiny.

They will have to sell in the summer.

We can buy.

Do the FAHCKIN maths.

"RDZ announces he is full steam ahead for next season, up another level with a massive transfer war chest"

Up go the prices and we get rinsed.

If I have to explain this a second time, so help me, I will SWING for someone.

And.....exhale.
Sorry...SO WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?

Before yesterday's announcements I was kind of hoping the club would come out and say something regards RDZ and comments, then I realised that we are a very well run club and didn't need to. ANY SENSIBLE TV or radio pundit or presenter did the answering for us and to put the cherry on top of the icing the club makes those two announcements and there you go jobs a good un and RDZ will now have even more food for thought!!!

I was coming on here to say something similar. I was going to ask, when RDZ leaves who will do better him or us? To date I think we have gone on to be more successful than all our past managers in the Bloom era.

RDZ has potters players
You keep saying this and it's largely bollocks. I've cobbled this together from Wikipedia so it's not 100% but it demonstrates how incorrect that statement is.

It's a list of players who played for Potter and, in bold italics, the players who are still here (I've definitely missed a couple of youth teamers / players out on loan because I don't keep up with the ins and outs there - but lets face it those players weren't playing for Potter anyway)

Aaron Connolly
Aaron Mooy
Abdallah Sima
Adam Lallana
Adam Webster
Alexis Mac Allister
Alireza Jahanbakhsh
Andi Zeqiri
Andrew Moran
Antef Tsoungui
Ben White
Beram Kayal
Bernardo
Christian Walton
Dale Stephens
Dan Burn
Danny Welbeck
David Button
Davy Pröpper
Deniz Undav
Ed Turns
Enock Mwepu
Evan Ferguson
Ezequiel Schelotto
Florin Andone
Glenn Murray
Haydon Roberts
Jakub Moder
James Furlong
Jan Paul van Hecke
Jason Steele
Jeremy Sarmiento

Joël Veltman
José Izquierdo
Julio Enciso
Kacper Kozłowski
Kaoru Mitoma

Leandro Trossard
Levi Colwill
Lewis Dunk
Marc Cucurella
Marc Leonard
Martín Montoya
Mathew Ryan
Michał Karbownik
Moisés Caicedo
Neal Maupay
Odel Offiah
Pascal Groß

Percy Tau
Pervis Estupinan
Robert Sánchez
Shane Duffy
Solly March
Steven Alzate

Tariq Lamptey
Tom McGill
Yves Bissouma

21 out of 50+ players. And some of those 21 barely played for Potter (Mitoma, JPVH, Moder, Sarmiento, Steele, Pervis)

So yeah, RDZ is still playing some of the players who played under Potter.

But he's also using:

Buanonotte
Adingra
Hinshelwood
Billy Gilmour
Verbruggen
Igor
Milner
Baleba
Fati
Joao Pedro
Valentin Barco.

Not to mention the occasional minutes given to youth players to cover our massive and relentless injury list.

And regardless of if he's still using Dunk or Welbeck or Webster they're not Potter's players because Potter isn't f**king here anymore.

If you want to keep peddling this myth then go for it but it's absolute bollocks.

Bloom probably hadn't told RDZ how much money he was prepared to spend in the summer. Judging by the reports of his latest presser which, (for those who are not keeping up) was free of veiled threats, Bloom has now told him.

And what we do not want, now, is months of speculation in the media about who 'cash-rich' Brighton will bid for in the summer.

And we do not want RDZ saying 'I had a chat with the owner and he has assured me we will spend, spend, spend (like Viv Nichols) during the summer, so I'm IN'.

So if all is roses in the garden now, why hasn't RDZ signed his new contract?

He wants a better deal for himself than is currently on the table.
His other comments, in reply to being asked about interest from Liverpool, seemed to me that he effectively said he has a contract to be here, and as long as he agrees with the club about the ambitions and the squad required to achieve them, any interest from another club is irrelevant.

Well, if RDZ has achieved that crapolade only twice during his 18 year tenure, it's quite a record.

I still think that excluding the truly incompetent and the tiny (like, really tiny) number of transformational exceptions, a manager makes little to no difference on their own.
I'm not saying anybody could do it, but that given the same set of players and conditions most premier league managers will achieve similar results (albeit they might fall out with / get the best out of different players in the squad).
