I think Jezza is already a better bench option than the likes of Baker Boatey, Duffus, Peupion who have made the 1st team bench a lot, albeit because of our horrendous injury list.
I think you’re right - but how many minutes between them have they had this season?
A reminder Sarmiento has never had anything close to a full season playing men’s football. His injury record is fairly bad and the loan was as much about getting regular football as it was proving his fitness.
With both his loans this season you do wonder if the 2 might be related given most of his appearances have been off the bench rather than starting
Exactly. The team out of Leicester, Leeds and Ipswich that misses the automatic promotion won’t make it out of the play-offs in my opinion.
My money is Ipswich (being the most likeable team playing the best football) finishing third sadly. We’ve seen it all before.

Let’s not kid ourselves, he hasn’t been a regular at either WBA or Ipswich. He was loaned out to try get regular games and it still isn’t happening as a starter
He has made a difference from the bench though at Ipswich.
His Father has high hopes for him and I think they’ll push for a move.
If someone offered £15m plus sell-on, I’d be inclined to cash-in.
(Perhaps more if they’ve just gone up)

Hasn't he generally been a super sub at International Level too? There's a role for that (especially for a winger) and so not surprised to see him pop up with injury time assists and last minute winners. Though admit that it's hard to score in the first 15 mins if you're usually a sub.
We were loaded on the wings (and had crazy injuries there in particular) so can see why the decision was made to loan him for more minutes. Next season if Fati returns to NouCamp and we end up tempted by an offer for another winger (be it a star or a borderline player who fills in) that choice might end up different.
My guess is it might depend on what happens to Sima and the 3 young bench warmers BB, Duffus and Perp mentioned above. Plus the young Romanian lad. Dare I say it we need one of those 6 in the matchday squad and one around the club. At his age he'd need to be the former. Am also assuming Barco is a shoe in already for a mix of positions when say that.

I think he could be a decent squad player at the Albion next season but, equally, I could see his desire in wanting to move on for regular game time. At which point, the club would assess the situation and probably make a tidy profit on him, which is all part of the TB masterplan – not every player that comes through the system has to go on to be a club legend...

Was surprised when we lent him out, he impressed last season especially in the cup. Thought he’d break through to first team this season like others have/had. Exciting prospect!

Personally I believe he would have played a lot of football with us had we not loaned him out, due to the injuries we've had, the number of games and the general rotation policy.
I also don't know much about how Ipswich or West Brom used him. But I've seen him enough in a Brighton shirt the season before that to see that he's going to spend his career at Premier League level and not Championship level.
I would have preferred we developed our own player rather than someone else's .. and I said that at the time.

Absolutely this. When we made the decision last summer to loan him out l felt it could rebound on us and bite us on the derriere, and so it has proved.
I so hope that we see him back in an Abion shirt next season. He is an exciting talent and l would hate to lose him.

The answer is "Not many" but I think they were making up the numbers, rather than serious options. I think Sarmiento would have been a serious option.
When you look at Transfermarkt his 2023/24 numbers are pretty good:
5 goals, 2 assist in 1,170 mins, so the equivalent of 13 full matches.
If you look at just Ipswich that's 3 goals, 2 assists in 449 mins, so the equivalent of 5 matches.
However, just one full 90 minutes appearance in England in the last 3 seasons, a 2-1 loss vs Sunderland in which he got booked.

I was disappointed we didn't keep him as he would have played a lot of minutes recently and possibly may have earnt us a crucial point or two. But I think a decision was made to fatten him up on loan for a sale and not sure enough has happened to change that

I think he'll go, but the fee is unlikely to be that high in my view, his appearance and injury record is patchy, 8m sounds about right..... NB I think Undav will resist a return too, though he could get us somewhere in the region of 15m.All of this.
