absolutely cowardly act. What makes it worse is it continues to happen in certain cities and the authorities seem completely blind to the epidemic they have every time a foreign team visits

English teams suffered in the late 80's with a blanket ban on our teams in Europe. UEFA would never devalue their own product unless it got desperate but I would fully support something like that again to try and sort it out. Italian teams are at the forefront of this (I'm also reading about a pocket of Atalanta fans attacking Rangers fans in Lisbon yesterday evening)

Again has it been confirmed this gang were Roma fans?
Well no.

Because there have been no reports of anyone arrested, let alone interrogated on their football allegiance and that information publicised.

So no.

However, give the numerous times this has happened to football fans in Rome then it's time for some sporting sanctions to try and deter this behaviour. Starting with stadium bans. Is this unfair? Yes. Is it more unfair than being stabbed? No

It's just not good enough for Roma and UEFA just to wash their hands with this.

And what is the police's role in this? Does anyone ever get caught, tried, prosecuted? Are they taking it seriously?

Whilst i’m in total agreement do we know these were Roma fans specifically, they could be Lazio no?
Both are cheeks of the same arse. Although far more likely to be Roma given their fixture is today. Both teams fans have form for being on the prowl the night before a game. All logistically organised with spotters about the city. They are horrible cowards but they are also very aware of where fans of visiting clubs are likely to be hanging out, ie Irish bar touristy type places.

I most certainly didn't

Why would anyone remotely celebrate football related violence? Can you find one example of anyone who found this funny?
