Agreed, counter attacking football is fast and exciting. We have reverted to Potterball at its slowest. Brentford are getting goals from Maupay by getting the ball forward quickly
I think there's a lot of truth in your point.

We can be devastating if we get ball forward and move it quickly.

We often go backwards or are too ponderous allowing defences to get in shape and blunt attacks.

I hate this argument. So because we were shit once upon a time, we’re not allowed to criticise now? Why?
Because if we win next Thursday everything that happened today will be forgotten and written off as a blip. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with constructive criticism but some of the comments on the match thread were way over the top. It just my observation, everyone can have an opinion.

If you look at how we played at the start of the season compared to now, and who was in the team compared to now you'll probably find some kind of correlation. You can't take Mitoma and Solly out of our team and not take a hit. They can beat players, but also they pull players out wide leaving space for AMs and strikers. It's a huge loss. Look at Palace when they're missing Olise and Eze.

But we drew and lost most our games this season with Mitoma playing 🤷🏻‍♂️ he’s been poor this season as well

Or if we get another bad performance and lose badly, our season is over

Hmmm...then for me there's something not right behind the scenes: there was a lot of talk from the squad and RDZ about how great it is to have the experienced Lallana, Milner and Welbeck around, about how much steel they are bringing to support the players during our busy schedule etc.
Maybe they're trying their hardest...but...
This season is reminding me of West Ham's last year.
West Ham won a trophy so this could be good. They also got 40 points last season. We are not in a relegation battle like West Ham were last year.

Haven’t read the thread but that was shit in every conceivable way. Negative fearful football in the final third, terrible defending, trying to walk the ball into the net, so many over hit final balls, second to the ball. Inferior Potterball. Hard to think a game could piss me off more than the Wolves one but it did. Pathetic performance

We are missing Gilmour too - he’s a bit like the noise of a fridge in the background- you don’t notice it until you realise how quiet it is.

Thank goodness red cards don’t carry over to UEFA matches.
RDZ himself said Gilmour is our only playmaker. Maybe Buonanotte is becoming another, but from deep it's Gilmour or no-one.

The bigger game was today. The final league position will be more important, unless you seriously think we will win the Europa league!
The more glamorous game is mid-week and a lot of people are mistaking glamor for importance.
So you think we can get 7th place? Lets take Europa league Serious.
We may never qualify for it again. Lets go as far aswe can with our strongest side as possible, who knows how far we can go. Have a look at the top 11 teams in the PL as it stands now, how many of them Realistically can we compete with and stay above until the end of the season.

Imo there are the usual so called big 6 with Villa and Newcastle challenging them for 7 places. Our only chance of getting top 6 is Newcastle and Chelsea having poor runs.

I don't think so. Is it entitlement to want the manager to play a team capable of competing? It not expecting we should win. We had plenty on the bench today that would have made that, at worst, a close game.
And if those benched players had got injured, or played shite on Thursday we all be saying why did he play them against Fulham.

Yes criticise but some of the comments make us look like Chelsea fans. We dont have strength in depth, a piss poor January transfer window did not help. This is not putting the blame on Tony Bloom, but it a collective thing. We win together and we lose together.

Oh! Great. Fulham day. That’s usually a sure fire recipe for a stress headache.
I rest my bastard case.

Deeply frustrating. Got to remember that I’m feeling cheesed off about what is likely to be the third best season of our history at worst but it feels like the season is ebbing away after the past week.

Obviously the Europa League can restore the mojo in an instant but I can’t see Roma bricking it right now.

Only caught second half and it looked like potterball but weaker on the break

Rome is daunting
Potterball was solid though ..... We were more defensive and poor upfront, at the moment we don't have a defence and we are rubbish upfront

It just highlight a fact we all pretty much know.

We have no real idea or plan to beat teams who play a low block, and that is a major achilles heel of De Zerbi ball.

Loads at the bottom of league will play it, counter attackers like Fulham, Wolves, Palace will play it, and while we do win some, we far too often struggle massively against such teams. Go a goal down and against the low block even more so.

I always fancy our chances more against a Spurs, Chelsea, Man U etc that will play than a Fulham or Everton who bus park

We need a solution or its just going to be more of the same hoping for a different outcome.
Their 3rd goal summed up all that is missing from our style of play.

To be fair we needed players in January for any chance of that to happen.
I think in the main, we needed Hinsh and Mitoma not to be injured in February tbh or Pedro for that matter but no one has a crystal ball. By the end of February/mid March most of our long term injuries were due to come back and by end of January the situation was looking a lot better than it had in November and December/early January.
