UNWRA had 12 people accused of being sympathetic to Hamas. They employ 30,000 people and Israel accused 12 of them. Not proven, just accused, so governments stopped aid going to them.
Not exactly true. They said 12 took part in October 7 and there were 190 Hamas or IJ members in UNWRA.

Anthony Blinken has called the dossier “highly credible”.

Im no fan of GG but as the returning officer said he won a fair ballot. Im a proud Tory but thought Rushi misused his PM position to make that statement outside no.10 attacking amongst others GG. In doing so you attack democracy. What then? Anarchy. Not just the way the candidate in Rochdale transpired etc in Rochdale for Labour but I agree with GG that Labour are on the ropes. It may not be another landslide victory but thankfully only the Tories can win at the next General election and Labour are 'finished'.
no they aren't. Galloway will be out in the GE, most constituencies aren't going to vote for anyone like him, with a fringe fusion of socialism and pro-islam. national politics, the economy, health, education take over for the GE, not personalities.

By they I assume you mean Israel? The 12 were sacked on the spot and if, as you say, there were 190 members of Hamas accused does this justify the US, UK and other countries withdrawing aid? The UNWRA run hospitals schools etc and do vital work to help in the mess created by Israel so not sure how this helps unless Israel is determined to wipe out all Palestinians in Gaza?

He is correct that a lot of traditional Labour voters will not vote for them at the next election.
People like to back the winner at elections though and a lot of votes will go Starmer’s way for this reason rather than people having any sense of what he stands for.

No evidence provided so far.

What we are rapidly learning is that if the Israeli government or IDF say something it's safe to say assume it's a lie or propaganda until proven otherwise.

He would be dangerous if he was in the least bit relevant. A bit like Farage. He’s just a prat in a hat.

Enjoy your six months in parliament George, then it’s back to rabble rousing at after dinner speeches.

lol I think people might find the lack of gentleman’s club civility quite refreshing

Superb timing this post. But who knows, maybe the EU are now Hamas

The US is hardly a neutral observer as far as allegations from Israeli officials are concerned. Israel is hardly a dispassionate witness as far as the UN is concerned.

From UNWRA’s website

“The Facts: UNRWA has not received any information, let alone any evidence, from the Israeli Authorities or any other Member State about the above claim. UNRWA became aware of this claim first from international media and later from a press briefing by an Israeli government official.   “

There is always more than one side to a news story. However, there is only ever one type of gullibility as to their veracity, usually influenced by cultural/personal bias of some kind or other.

Shocking indictment of British politics. Never has it been at a lower point. The country is being let down by incompetence and inexperience. Neither of the two main parties have any credibility. They are laughing stocks. Dragging our country into the gutter. Thats why Galloway was elected. People have given up. Labour couldn't find a credible candidate. Disgraceful. I dread the General Election. Labour will win, by default and nothing will change.
Convincing people that this ‘all the same’ dogma bollocks is true is the only chance the Tories have of winning. That said, it’s still highly unlikely, even with the mad right wing, islamophohic, christian fundamentalist Sir Paul Marshall potentially buying the Torygraph.

Cheerio thread. Go and join the other(s).
I hear you - it’s a bit difficult to avoid the topic completely though as George Galloway made it a central issue in his campaign - you could say that was opportunistic for him in a constituency with a large Muslim population but he does also have a history of speaking out against the occupation of the Palestinian territories, as well as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The reason I found his election chilling (as I said above) is that he is a ‘politician’ on the far side of a spectrum representing different views of the relations between the East and West (not characterised by traditional far left or far right ideology) and in that sense, his election is symptomatic of a deeper malaise in British society - not as fractured or polarised as the US but certainly worse than it was 13 years ago.

Maybe too, we are more sensitive to extreme politics now (or anything that isn’t comfortably moderate) where the Caroline Lucases of this world are the most ‘extreme’ left wing politicians in Parliament and Braverman the most extreme right wing. Perhaps the younger generation are forgetting the likes of Enoch Powell, Dennis Skinner, Dianne Abbot, Tony Benn, all members of Parliament that took on the British establishment with varying degrees of unsavoury ‘far from the centre‘ rhetoric at times. We have also seen worse forms of extremism in the rise of UKIP and the very far right that moved Farage’s Party even further to the right than it was already - UKIP was dispatched with quite quickly by the establishment and an electorate who had no stomach for extremist messaging. Galloway is another politician who will find his time in Parliament short-lived once the war in Gaza is over and Labour get their act together in Rochdale.

Galloway is a single issue politician - it’s just that the issue changes more often than his constituency

There is a possibility that the Gorgeous George Groovy Gang will, having labelled Sunak and Starmer 2 cheeks of the same @rse, put c. 50 pro-ceasefire candidates up. Such feeling is growing quickly.
Interesting. How have you formed this idea? Where have you witnessed this feeling? I took a look at George’s party and I struggle to see how he can put more than a handful of credible people on his ticket. It’s a very small party.
