[Albion] Roma away. No flight? or no match ticket?

So, after fighting thousands of Albion fans to successfully book flights from Gatwick to Rome, I’ve got a match ticket and my friend who is set to travel with me hasn’t. A mixture of guilt and frustration has set in, so just want to gauge the level of demand for identifying venue for ticketless Albion fans to gather during match.

Piazza dei Cinquecento, which is near Termini station, seems best positioned, so away fan friendly nearby bar with big screen is needed.

That, or offer a way out for my friend by transferring flight ticket to someone with a match ticket.

Who has:-
a) a match ticket and no flight
b) flights and no match ticket?

So your mate with no realistic chance of getting a ticket, has brought a flight, contributing to inflated air fares (pricing those out that could get a ticket) and will now have to watch the game in the pub on his lonesome.

I’m going to suspend my sympathy on this occasion.

Bit harsh, no one knew what the points level, allocation or take up would be. The flight prices would have gone up anyway without his friend booking.

His mate is free to travel wherever he wants whenever he wants. I booked my flights as soon as the draw was made, I imagine he may have done the same. Like him I missed out on a match ticket however it that means you've had to pay more for your flights then that is a F**king result!

You’ve probably shelled out best part of £400 (flights and accommodation) to watch the game…in a Pub!

Nice one 👍

Yes but obviously that wasn't his plan. Had he got a ticket, it would have worked out nicely. Instead, he still has the option of visiting the city should he wish to do so. And that's before the option of getting some sort of ticket once he's there.

But at least we now know that in future everyone shouldn't be allowed to make travel plans in case it costs "poidy" a bit more money, so that's helpful.

I reckon more people booked travel before knowing about their ticket eligibility than the other way round.

D) I bought a ticket on the AS Roma website, but can't decide whether I want to spend $1,500 on a 3-day detour to Italy.

New World problem, I know.

How old are you?
Have you seen Brighton in Europe before?
Can you afford it?
Have you got anything better to do?

  1. Short bio right here on NCS !!
  2. Home vs Marseille and March 14 vs AS Roma.
  3. Yes. However, I'm dropping $5,000 on my March 7-21 UK vacation for an approximate total of $20,000 on solo and family trips since January 2023 -- but this was a binge that I will never reproduce. And, you know... 4 kids.
  4. Yes. Rome would be a luxury. I haven't been to Italy since the summer of Coppa del Mondo 1990 and would prefer a longer stay to make it worth the time and expense.
Logic would have me stick to my original schedule. If we were to make mincemeat of Fulham tomorrow, however, the heart might very well pummel logic into submission.

Sounds like a great life.

Could be our last away game in Europe for a long time. Do it.

We win and you don’t go you will forever wish you were there that night.

We lose oh well you saw the Albion in Rome and had another adventure.

If you can afford it do it. I’m sure the kids will understand the inheritance is a little light. The Albion did something none of us thought we would ever do.

If all 10 are in Rome, the named persons can pick up the tickets, then raffle with their good friends over which of the 10 actually use the ticket to gain entry, and which sit in a bar with the other unlucky ones.
