[Albion] Roma tickets - number remaining tier to tier

I was in Athens ticketless and can say it was amazing. Great fun, great city, great experience. Had possibility to enter home end but didnt decide to. I havent been in Athens or Rome before on my life. Now i was kinda forced to

I do think that this season might be the only chance to travel Europe with the team (hopefully not). Wouldnt regret any travel! Even though i might not enter all of the game.

Anyway in Rome im having a home end ticket

Because as a STH you have accrued those points before a ball has been kicked, thus taking the chance that the season was absolute shite. It's the ultimate financial loyalty

My advice would be to ignore the advice of anyone on here who had away end tickets for all the Euro games but actually read carefully the experiences of those that didn't for at least one of the games. There is nothing more nauseating than reading people's opinions when they are safe in the knowledge they have a ticket. On the other hand, those that travelled and either went in the home end somehow or just went for the craic - they're the opinions really worth paying attention to and basing your decision on.

Here's my opinion: I came desperately close to doing Amsterdam, but didn't. For days I regretted it, as those that went told me it was once in a lifetime etc. But they nearly all had tickets, and it came across as gloating albeit unintentional. Anyway, it wasn't once in a lifetime because here we are in Rome and I do have a ticket this time. I'm not going to say you should go or otherwise, but I think I'd go if I could get a home end ticket. In fact, I booked flights anyway.

I've landed a ticket in Section 4AD, right next to 52A of the away stands. IF I go (there's an extensive series of boxes that need to be ticked, first), does anyone know whether an usher would be willing to let me slip in with the Albion tribe?

Perhaps I phrased that it the wrong way. I booked the tickets to the Tower of London without realising that it was the date of the Euro finals. It was somewhere around covid times and everything had to be booked in advance.

Absolutely love people whining about the loyalty scheme, it is the fairest loyalty team in terms of access to tickets, I've ever seen. Names on tickets and ID checks take the piss, but ultimately, I can kind of see why it is done...ANYWAY, it is fair that STH get prior access because we go week in, week out, mostly and again, we are buying a seasons worth of home tickets, more so than a member, (nothing against them AT ALL of course). It's each of our choices how we support the club. But ultimately, the point scheme is to reward those who attend the most games, STH who go away regularly are in the top bracket of our support. I go 8-10 away a season and 98% of home games with ST.

I think it's fair generally but I do think that a member who manages to go to most away games (not a category I'd put myself into to be clear) should be at least level with a STH who rarely if ever goes to an away.

Home or away, we are all still choosing to go to football for our own enjoyment (even when we don't enjoy it!). The priority levels reward what you contribute to the club.

STHs are a guaranteed 8-figure income stream for the year, whether the football's good or shite, which helps the club to run. They buy beer and club shop shit more regularly and are more likely to keep contributing to the club in future seasons when we're back to being shite again.

Members coming to the Amex are a potential but more unreliable source of income, who contribute when they choose to.

Members going away don't benefit the club financially, other than the annual membership. They spend money, time and effort following the club and as fans we see that as loyalty. But financially that only supports the opposition club and the rail companies.

They provide a less tangible contribution to the Albion, in singing & support for the team (not that all do of course!). That doesn't pay the bills, but the club rewards it by giving 5, 10 or 15 points depending on expected demand / supply / shiteness of experience etc. But secondary to the overall membership level.

Imo, we need to think of them more as 'club contribution' points. The word loyalty is too emotive and subjective, and doesn't reflect what the system is and what it rewards:

Overall benefit to the club = membership priority level (STH>AM>PH) and annual points.
Longer-term dependability of that benefit = points adjustment for years held.
Ad-hoc financial benefit to club = points for individual home games, cup games etc.
Intangible benefit to club = points for support at away games.
Recognition of cost/effort/ballache for fans = difference between 5, 10, 15 points for individual games.

I don't see a problem with that. I think it's fair and prioritises what sustains and benefits the club in the long run. That's what's most important to me (being the bestest loyallest fan and all) :moo:

I would go to most games too, if I didn't live 150 miles away....I had a ST for 4 years, but the Hyppia year was the proverbial straw, reverted to membership..... I go to as many away games as my points allow( 259 ) and as many home games as I can get to.... I have actively supported since 1977/8 .... never went to Gillingham..... and still I accept that I won't ever get a ticket to a western Europe venue because of demand...I went to Amsterdam ticket less, watched it in a pub with mostly locals... my choice.

It could be argued that I have more historic skin in the game than Ronald Collante, he has been around only for a couple of seasons and seems to be able to get tickets for every game, including these Europa fixtures.

at a family wedding for Marseille sadly.

I wondered up to the away gate (accidentally as I was on the metro with our lot) at Ajax and got turned away and had to go to my home seat, I did not dare at aek, despite being encouraged to give it a go, only to find out later that some people had been let into the away end without an away ticket. I think it just depends on how organised the stadium is.

the fair system only IS fair, if they have ID checks!

Otherwise you just have people sat in Tier 1, buying a ticket for every single game in perpetuity - and just passing on/ selling on the ones they can’t or don’t want, to go to. Protecting their position at the top regardless of how often they actually attend, and allowing people without the earned points to use ’their’ tickets.

all of this is exactly the situation that exists at a few of the biggest clubs, and is a source of much anger amongst their fan bases.

Ronald has a ST and goes to pretty much every away game - two seasons doing that and you’re going to be in T1 for most away tickets.
