He doesn’t but the Sunderland reserve snobs won’t hear it. He’ll continue to be picked by the guy who has the only opinion that matters
It was as bad a cock up by Steele as the Sanchez one was against Palace last season. That game basically sealed his departure from the club as RdZ never trusted him again. Be interesting to see if the same happens with Steele.
Pretty rare error, agreed. He made a good save later and snuffed out a few dangerous moments as a sweeper, which he’s good at. Probably the reason he got the nod against a team that always wants to play on the break. Prefer Verbruggen overall but the anti-Steele stuff is way over the top.

Compare the reaction tonight to Bart gifting a goal to our greatest rivals at Selhurst. Double standards rooted in the fact that there is a minority who can never accept a forgotten reserve as joint No 1

However, he also gifted Luton 2 in the first 5 minutes, so this was even more unfortunate so soon after that game.
He’s been great for us, but tonight I thought he looked jittery, unusually with the ball at his feet as well, though his passing was fairly solid throughout
Edit I would also add JPvH was culpable on the goal as well, way too tight on the player, easily rolled……
However, in other news Enciso and Barco

Yes let’s. Let’s be like every other club in world football and have an established number one. And let that number one be the Dutch international goalkeeper who could be our goalkeeper for a decade.

Game of opinions but I thought he was fine apart from the error. I guess what gets me is that he was a key player in our highest ever finish in the league and some won’t give him the slightest bit of credit for that. Really poor
He’s not made many of those types of errors so no point getting on his back imo

Steele is the worst keeper in the Premier League. Not one other club would have him in there starting 11.
It’s also a big stretch for people to be claiming he gifted Luton their first 2 goals. Don’t remember it being Steele that lost the ball in midfield or went walkabout in the opposition half. It’s pathetic.

But ultimately goalkeepers aren’t judged on the shots they save, it’s the ones they let in…. That was a howler I’m afraid.
He bottled the one on one it was literally in front of me and flapped badly on the first.
Not a stretch at all.

But if his starting position is better or he attacks the ball the second doesn’t happen.

Tonight was unfortunate and costly. @London Irish is right in terms of credit and his role last year, but that wasn’t great, and I just feel he looks nervy…..
However, I do get your point, but the facts are mistakes happen all over the pitch at any point, it is magnified as a goalkeeper. It doesn’t make it right, but you are on your own effectively…..
Yes, they were sloppy at Luton, and so was JPvH tonight as well, but you have to deal with the simple things, and those were…..
