They've got the cash, that's not the problem.

They just can't legally spend it.

I agree with those saying the transfer values and likely wage expectations of top players have now halved or more since the Everton points deduction.
What is less clear is how it will affect clubs like us who are holding players, who will certainly want to go the likes of Chelsea or Liverpool, but if the best we're getting offered for Pedro is, say £40m, do we sell or not sell? I can see arguments both ways
….that £40m or whatever it is might well become much more the ‘new normal’ for top rated players as things stand (pending any Super League set up anyway), so potentially bringing the ‘big’ clubs closer to our levels of spending.

Yes, I agree. the going rate for top attacking talent will be closer to £40m in the coming years than £80m ish we've we've become used to.

The thing i'm still unsure about is whether we will sell at much smaller margins to keep promoting ourselves as a stepping stone club, or decide that if we're not going to get a decent profit we may as well risk contracts running out and try to get more years out of players

The thing which I don't think will change soon, is that the clubs we buy off will still charge the same as they do. They will still have FFP considerations and will largely still be loss making operations so can't really drop their prices. In addition there will continue to be plenty of mid level clubs like us who have some FFP wiggle room and some money, but not loads, so we'll continue to have competition for every purchase we make

FFP will mean lower transfer fees in the next window I reckon. Big market correction ahead.
There's also the problem of our players looking shitehouse the moment they put on another clubs shirt.

I just can’t see it.

How long do you think clubs like Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal with the ownership they have will put up with this? All three apparently didn’t spend in January because of the rules, they’re not going to put up with that for long and the other big clubs will feel the same.

The rules will be weakened or these clubs will just threaten to again or will this time break away and create the Super League that Juventus, Barca and Real etc still want.

Let them f*** off to their private super league; as long as it means they resign from English football I'll be fine with that.

That may be the response from an English fan of smaller clubs but it’s certainly not what the PL/UEFA/FIFA and wider media want or will accept, hence the financial rules will be weakened.
Pretty sure PL, UEFA and FIFA won't be too happy with a small break away dictating to them how to run football, especially when many of those doing it are run by states.

The global viewership and commercial interest in the top few clubs massively outweighs the rest of us. Without them there is a fraction of the interest in these competitions.

These clubs know that and will use it as leverage do get concessions. Luckily the 2/3 majority vote rule in the PL has limited this in England but you just have to look at how disproportionate things like the La Liga TV deal are. Real and Barca get hugely beneficial terms by throwing their weight around and making threats.

Anybody else heard he is injured and out for 4-6 weeks? Nightmare if true.

Was in training yesterday. Where did you hear this.
Friend who vaguely knows some of the players. Might be bollocks but would be an odd thing to make up.
