I was given a free programme by the Director of Football at Vauxhall Motors on Saturday. Very good it was as well. Pocket sized, basically a throwback to days gone by when a programme was a souvenir rather than the bloated magazine they have become in the top divisions.

Used to buy in lower leagues to find out about opposition players. Dont buy now because know of all the players

Very occasionally, when it's a special game like our winning Europa game, and after the match from the shop. Maybe once a season.

Used to get them every game, although when I first started going (age 4 and a half - yeah I know, JCL!) I don't think I even registered their existence. A bit older and I loved them, and for many years habitually bought one at every game. More recently, realised that I wasn't really reading them and it was all a bit of a waste of money. Coupled with the difficulty of carting them around at a match (and trying to keep them relatively OK conditionwise), I then moved to buying the first and last of the season, then anything particularly special (eg the Europa league home ones, but yet to buy the Europa league away ones as the only seller seems to be £16.95 per programme plus postage!). I do enjoy reading the PBOBE and TBMBE programme notes, and used to enjoy the notes from previous managers. However, RDZ's sound a mile away from anything he is likely to actually say, so wonder who writes those for him!

I think it is a vital part of the match day experience and great value but I noticed hardly anyone around me bothers anymore
You're right but aside from expense there's only so many photo copy boxes you can fit in a loft! And as my wife pointed out how many times do you get out the old programmes? Accordingly, I tend to just buy ones for special games like our European games

I bought one for every match when it was Jnr's first season and took a photo of us in our seats holding the said programme. Now I only get him the 'special' ones. As others have said, they just take up too much room in the end.

Yes, I’m an avid collector with over 4,050 going back to the early 1930’s. Quite a few ‘wants’ from the 40’s and a handful from the 50’s (if anyone can help out!😂).

I don’t think our programme has increased in price for over 10 years and does contain some decent articles (Hiney’s look back at old programmes featuring the visitors and, as previously mentioned, Spencer Vignes’ excellently written articles). It’s also great for stats and Luke Nicoli does a great job. The issue for the Marseille home game was superb!

Some of the older ones in my collection are fantastic period pieces of a bygone age and, if like me, you enjoy the history of our club, they’re an important memento.

I understand why fans don’t tend to bother with them these days and some clubs have ceased producing them for match day sale but I think it would be a shame if they disappeared altogether.

Yes for important fixtures and only if I think I can get away with slipping it into my huge collection without my wife noticing.

Not really but I did buy two (one for my daughter) after Saturday's game. Not sure why I picked this game to buy them

I want to, but it's so expensive now and I find there's little I really want to read. So consciously stopped myself on Saturday to save the dosh. Shame though, like collecting them.
I get mine in the ground for a 10% discount with an Amex Card, every little helps!
