Pretty sure that most severance deals tend to end up being paying someone's wage, until they get their next job.

The cost of paying for a third set of Manager & cosching staff wages, is embarrassing, but I doubt it would be the biggest issue in their PSR statement.

They're not because, despite their massive headline spending, the long contracts for new players (meaning only a small part of the fee is recognised as a cost each season) and a reasonable level of player sales (meaning 100% of the fee is recognised as income in the season) have combined to **so far** keep them within the PSR/FFP boundaries.

Recent reports are saying they need to make up £100m + before June 30th.

Suspect Boehly and his exceedingly clever accountants have made sure they are very carefully just inside the line for now (hence noises about them having to get funds in before the next window), but they have no contingency/headroom to pay up the contracts of Poch and his crew as that would have to be immediately paid out.

Some of those comments under the Twitter post are incredible. Basically saying ‘sack him anyway’ and take the 10 point penalty.
One relatively intelligent post states they can’t as the Tuchel payoff was £12m, the compensation to us for Potter and Co was £21m and the payoff to Potter was £13m. if they sack Poch it’s another £10m payoff. These costs are straight losses for PSR and can’t be amortised.
Let’s just hope that the PSR rules are retained.
With the purchases they have made and amortised and the long, high salary contracts they have shelled out I can’t see their position getting any better. They were betting on Champions League qualification and this just looks very unlikely.
As reported elsewhere, they need to sell over £100m of home grown players before 30th June to stop a breach of the PSR rules.
They look like they are in the shite and I expect a certain Paul Winstanley will get the chop.

Plus they are going to be at risk of failing it in future years whatever they do, so they risk cumulative penalties for continued breaches

Plus that's separate to investigations which are going on to the Abramovich era.

They could get decentish money for James still, but not if he gets injured. All the potential buying clubs have their own issues in this regard, so they won't get enormous money. They would also be selling to direct rivals which would be very tough to swallow

They had an offer from us from Colwill. Which we won't repeat I don't believe now Van Hecke has proved himself. Ego stopped them accepting that offer. That was a big mistake

Per the financial expert on the TS clip, getting rid of Tuchel, getting off us and then dumping Potter cost them £45 million in this years accounts.

Reece James is the other obvious one. However he’s regularly injured.
The other factor is that the Euros are played this summer.
If Gallagher and say Colwill are in the England squad it is difficult to see a team purchase them whilst the Euros are being played or before that.
The deadline for the PSR is 30th June. If they sell after that date it won’t help them.

They may manage it but it won’t be easy, and the same problem will likely arise the year after.
Another issue is that Colwill, James and Gallagher are likely to be on big wages and so unlikely to be an easy purchase on for even a big six club.

No one is paying what they want for James, he will raise 25 million max.

He's a fantastic player, but he's going to retire soon
