[Travel] Passport Renewal?

Has anyone recently renewed their passport? If so, how long did it take to get back?

They aren't taking express applications at the moment, which is annoying as I am only in the UK for 4 weeks.

Most of us did about 6 months ago!!!

From memory it was less than 2 weeks, I think a few of us got it down to about 8 days.

Ok, good to know. I was reading 8 weeks somewhere, seemed a lot, but not surprising.

You can make appointments in one of their passport offices and they'll get it to you in a week. Costs more though.

The nearest being in London? Might look in to this.

This is what I did. Booked appointment - it's next to the Excel Arena - make sure you have all your documents and photos. Took 20 mins or so and passport arrived around a week later.

I did my renewal in October. Everything was uploaded on line and then I returned my old passport by post. It wasn’t the express service but I received my new one within 10 days.

I guess time of year has a lot to do with it. Did mine in November and took about 10 days. Spring into Summer might be a different story.

Submitted my application online on the 8th January, new passport came back (and the old one on the same day) on the 13th January.

Unbelievably rapid, plus the tracking and communication of updates on what stage it was at was fantastic.

I did mine at London - you get the passport that day

Same for me in November. And not only that it means I get the BLUE (made in France) one now! Who said Brexit didn’t bring any dividends?

One thing I did do was to pay for the extra pages, thinking that as we get stamps every time we go into Europe the small passport may soon fill up, it was about £10 extra.
