Joao Pedro is the greatest player to ever pull on an Albion shirt ⚽

Within 5 years he will be lauded as truly ’World Class’, something which Lawrenson was robbed of due to injury.
Now these are posts that I like. A 2 footed challenge of a post from an old timer !

Pedro looks very good doesn’t he. I just don’t know if he’s got that sprinkling of star dust that when he gets the ball you wonder what’s gonna happen, let’s say gazza in his prime star dust.

I doubted him at the beginning but he could be a star in the making.

Enjoy him whilst he is with us. It won’t be for long, sadly.

Annoying but I’m still hopeful of a 2nd season of him.

What is joyous is that Newcastle had a deal almost put to bed for him from Watford for £30m.

Instead, they spent £70m on Isak who might be considered the lesser player now. Their loss, our gain.

Thanks for all you replies, to clarify prior to this season IMHO Mark Lawrenson was the greatest player, talent as opposed to cult status, to ever pull an Albion shirt, many have come close, but prior to last August no player has ever surpassed Lawro for all round footballing ability, until now.

I totally agree with the earlier posts pointing out that there are all sorts of ways to define and decide this that each lead to different "winners".

But I'm still pretty shocked that we've got to a second page with nobody mentioning Zamora. He gave us our pride back.

You’re a little premature young Sir. If I saw you walking down Montague Street spouting your appreciation of Pedro over Lawro. I‘d shout ‘Oi Rider no!’ ‘Whilst I respect your undoubted wisdom and significant contribution to the media industry, you cannot draw parallels with these two players. I would however, stop short of a slap!’

European Cup, Super Cup, League Cups, League Titles and 39 caps for a very good Republic side.

PS Happy new year Ian.

If it's about how good they were at their best, rather than when with us, that's a fair shout.
Agreed. Hedged my bets with what the OP is actually asking. Vicente was amazing so is right up there in terms of ability, but didnt play enough to be considered the greatest legend

I am with OP here.

He has everything.

Quality ball control. Great in the air. Creative. Exceptional finishing.

He's 22 now... if he keeps improving at this rate, he'll become one of the top players in the world by 26.
He isn’t exceptional at finishing. Side footed to keeper at West Ham from middle of goal after his great run .
Missed sitter Vs Luton at home and I’m sure many other occasions.

Kane is exceptional, not up to that level yet

I don't think it's a case of him not playing enough, I just don't think his ability was as high when he was with us, even in the short term, as it was when he was with Valencia. In terms of how good he was, at the top of his career, I'd think he's one of the best we've had.

If it's about greatest legend, that's Dunk.

I've still never seen anyone surpass Lawro. The youngsters may know him as a rather dour pundit but he was absolute class as a player.

I also wonder if we have a player who may be better but I think it will be Buonanotte - a young kid, with plenty of time to mature. It's early days of course but his improvement in the last couple of months has been astonishing. I wonder what he'll be like next year.

What is incredible is that Brighton have four young players - JP, Buonanotte, Enciso and Fergie - who could all possibly fetch £100m each. They're all a long way off that sort of price at the moment, but the potential is definitely there

Although we disagree about Lawro, I think that the four you mention will follow AliMac and Caicedo (eventually) as absolutely top top class players, and together with Vicente, may be some of the best ever players to pass though the Albion.

Still only one GOAT for the Albion though. Just a shame that Hurst is north of the Old Shoreham Road

To reiterate there’s a difference between greatest legend, Wardy, Dunk, Zamora etc and the greatest player to pull on an Albion shirt.
