Surely not? That would be plain stupid, wouldn't it? If we mess around, before you know it some random London club will come in and it'll be Kudus MkII - if we want him, surely we should just go right in and plonk the release clause amount on the table straight away and get it over the line ASAP?
I mean, are we that desperate to save a few hundred thousand pounds that we'd risk blowing the deal? After all, in this day and age, in the world of the PL, £10M ain't exactly big bucks.

See above, by bidding we can offer a sell on clause to improve the relationship with Boca for the future.

Not sure if this has been posted already, but this analysis of him is so exciting, and he takes corners!

"top European clubs such as Juventus, Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester City are watching the 19-year-old".

Still can't read this type of stuff without hearing:

A cheeky friendly at La Bombonera wouldn’t be a bad outcome either. A global club like ours could surely do with a South American tour!
Less than 0.01% chance I'd be able to go, but I would absolutely LOVE that to happen (I could still enjoy it vicariously)

And is a decent free kick taker I believe.

Might finally see Dunk retired from free kick duty.

Why not just offer the full release clause now and avoid handing over £10m when we sell him for £100m in the future?
Because it allows us to maintain a good relationship with Boca, and he's a fan of the club who wants to see them receive a fair amount. This way it makes our offer even more attractive for him.

Would they have to bring Mallett with them?

Think of it from their point of view: would you be happier with just £10m or just less plus extras later down the line?
You really think a flat £10m is a better offer than more than that!?

Charlie goes off other people’s tweets like one with 320k followers who just broke the story 🤣

Nothing wrong with it as he’s credited the source - but he’s not ‘well placed’ at all. The Argus journos are more ‘well placed’
I think all i meant is that he does a bit of due diligence before posting.

If we get this one over the line then great credit to our recruitment team and Sam Jewell in particular.
We really are forging a successful path in South America and long may it continue.
AleMac, Caicedo, Enciso, Buonanotte, and now, fingers crossed, Barco.
Obviously Pervis as well but via Spain.

By bidding we’re offering Boca a potentially better deal than simply exercising the buyout clause. Given this has ‘broken’, quite possibly indicates it’s a done deal as far as us and the player are concerned - if Boca refuse the bid, we’ll simply activate the release clause anyway. Pretty clever move by the club if so.

Unless of course it has broken, because the selling club has leaked it in the hope of smoking out alternative generous bids?

according to Twitter apparently Boca are going to reject the $10m + 10% so we can offer $10m and activate the buyout, which seems a bit strange?
