[Brighton chairman] Tony Bloom knows very well my opinion. We lost [Leandro] Trossard and if we also lose Caicedo it's a problem for us if we want to fight for Europe," De Zerbi said

Seems to be letting Tony know what he wants.
I suspect Tony has some kind of knowledge that losing MC might be a problem. This has only blown up because of the Insta message on Friday, he wasn’t leaving this window until that popped up. New agents and Arsenal (ie potentially winning stuff and CL next season guarantee) has changed things and RdeZ is understandably affected.

Disagree. He produced a comprehensive analysis of every single player for his interview with Bloom and Barber. He is utterly obsessed. He will have studied and completely understood Tony’s way of operating and is unlikely to be unsettled by a few transfer window shenanigans mostly driven by shyster agents looking to make a quick buck. Tony will have explained the recruitment model in immense detail during his recruitment process and Roberto has bought into it.
His post match comments sound extremely pissed off he's not been backed to improve the squad

Maybe simply managing the minutes of someone just coming back from injury, no ?
Deffo. Coming back a bit from injury just a workout Was just slightly off the pace. Also saw RDZ screaming at him in the first half for not moving it forward quickly enough. Lamptey too. Was going spare when they kept cruyff turning backwards.

WHICH I LIKE! (The going spare not the cruyff turns towards your own GK)

And to be completely honest - RDZ was the one who went public on Trossard with the ‘mentally not right’ comments before anything else went public - so even if he was likely to go, he certainly helped push him out the door…

Love his interview at half time. We’re level with Liverpool and he’s really not happy because he knows we can play better. Such a hard task master but I think his belief in the players gives them extra belief too.

I'm not sure how anyone can look at our bench today and not think "could do with a bit more depth"...
  • 1 Sánchez
  • 19 Sarmiento
  • 20 Enciso
  • 21 Undav
  • 27 Gilmour
  • 29 van Hecke
  • 34 Veltman
  • 49 Moran
  • 71 Hinshelwood
Goalkeeper aside, there's really only one senior pro there.
As I commented on the Liverpool match thread when they released the line up.

With the exception of Veltman and Sanchez, the lack of depth showed very much in the weakness of the bench today. It will look a bit better when Lallana and Colwill are back but we need ‘topping up’ with at least some bolstering to the ‘usual’ back four with another CB or FB - Hopefully the Matviyenko interest will come to something. Maybe even this guy to deepen our Forward options - https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lassina-traore/profil/spieler/551695

I think whatever happens with Moises, RDZ is resigned to will push on regardless.

"I would like him to finish the season with us but we are ready to go forward without him."

Think a lot of posters don’t quite understand RDZ or his use of English and what he means. He was pissed off as we didn’t hit the incredibly high standards he wants. Nothing to do with the club or transfer frustration. He’s happy to leave that to the recruitment team etc.

Love the man, not only does he think our squad has "BIGGa balls" he also doesn't celebrate when we win while playing badly. So refreshing to hear the manager and players (Dunk at least) saying yep sure we won but we played like shit, rather than the old "yeah I am happy that the boys stuck it out and got the win" Nope he addresses what we all saw and it's simply not good enough for him.

I think people need to remember De Zerbi has only been speaking English a few months, so we need to be careful about reading too much tone or attitude into the words/phrases he uses.
My Mother spent 50 plus years living in Blighty and I still had problems understanding what she was on about right up to the day she passed, especially interesting when she got excited or hacked off about something.

I hope his downbeat expressions and interview were just to do with the fact that he wasn’t happy with the performance but I get the feeling it runs deeper than that

Ukranian and maybe one other in and Caicedo staying might bring back the ebullient RDZ we have had before.
