This is Arsenal/Chelsea and everything else that entails and nearly £100m, the price of the Amex, not Burnley and £7m. Plus a it’s generational, international midfield powerhouse talent in Caicedo, not a ten a penny, lower PL/Championship midfield plodder in the nicest possible way.

Of course they are disconnected... players care about: 1. themselves 2. their families 3. their buddies/colleagues.... and very far down that list comes Brighton & Hove Albion. They want what is best for their friend Caicedo and many of them know that they will be in a similar position one day.

When Shakhtar sold Mudryk they said that Arsenal were not playing cleanly, tapping the player up for months etc... which is one of the reasons they sold him to Chelsea instead. Seems a bit like this is the current Arsenal modus operandi. And probably a reason why Caicedo may end up with Chelsea rather than Arsenal, if I'm going to guess.

The industry standard is 10% but some get more and some get less.

I was very disappointed to read a Guardian article that he openly wants to go....and sad and a bit angry. We all know that he is destined to go to big club but , so soon? Really?
Thankfully we are so close to deadline day that the club can stall it and wait until the Summer. Even from his point of view , is it wise to jump at the first offer? I would want to wait and get the best deal once they all have a chance to offer.

We made Liverpool look very ordinary in all areas of the pitch two weeks ago. Not a lot has changed since then

The ‘succession planning’ is working fine - as long as we keep players at essential moments. This is a pivotal one. Keep him till June and we send a message we are serious contenders. Sell him now, with a chance of Top Six, and we send a message that we are a feeder club.

Pretty sure Caicedo’s was a quote from an interview with Brian Owen. The chances of similar language are probably not so slim - that’s what media training/briefing does to players, rather boringly. I agree though that most social media accounts are controlled by agents.

I agree, although if I were the club I'd be making every effort to change things around immediately. I'd reassure him that he will get his move, it's just a case of when, not if - and tell him that this game on Sunday (just for starters) is important for us, and he has a job to do. And he can show other clubs what they're trying to buy. A long shot, but I'd try.

All fine but he doesn’t actually hold any of the cards. He can want what he likes but he is under contract. This is not comparable to you or I getting a better job offer because we do not get given contracts of several years duration. Well, I don’t anyway.
