If that’s for this window, 11/4 is very tempting. I don’t see Tony being likely to get bosses around by a 21 year old
He won’t be. Because all conversation won’t be with him,

Naive, young but fabulously wealthy footballers are like suspects in 24hrs in Custody with their lawyers aka “no comment” is equivalent of “talk to my agent”

BTW you'd be utterly mad not to be in for him if he leaves. If he goes to Arsenal they stroll the league and will be at the very top for years to come. Every other team will be kicking themselves in a year or two.

I felt pretty sure he would agitate for a move as soon as Arsenal put a firm offer in, which is why I started the poll - I was interested to see how many people though the same. Not many at all as it turned out.

I think we would have seen Chelsea off in this window but Arsenal, particularly given their lead at the top of the league, felt like a different proposition completely. The chance to be a Premier League winner and all but guaranteed Champions League football next season.
Yeh, looks like I may have been well wrong - assumed the club putting a statement out about no sales meant an end to it. Still think he’ll stay but it’s now a bit sour.

Be interesting to see how the club play this. Can’t stay quiet but what sort of statement do they put out
I would imagine they don’t have to say anything. If they have decided to play hardball and not let Caicedo go in this transfer window why should they make a public announcement? A silent response is a gigantic f*** off to the vultures, unscrupulous agents and other snakes in the grass. It might also give Moises pause for thought but I’m sure that will be dealt with privately in-house.

What is of most concern is whether the club are ambitious enough to go all out for a European spot by the season’s end. If that is the case then someone as important as Caicedo, in helping to achieve that aim, will no doubt be refused a move.

Well, I think the club meant that and do still mean that.

But I wonder if they also thought Moises was unlikely to resort to these sort of tactics, and assuming no mega-offer was made in the coming days, things would blow over until the inevitable summer auction.

I agree £60 million is not enough especially given the timing. The club are in a strong position to demand good money given the length of contract and club setup. I personally think he’ll still be with us come the end of the window unless the club get an offer over at least £80million probably closer to £100 million.
We will see if other clubs up the price as the end of the transfer window gets closer.
Just very disappointing from Moises
Agreeing to £60m, £80m or £100m is irrelevant to our chances of high finish this season and irrelevant to RDZ. Overnight he’d lose the midfield powerhouse gelling things together, we/he’d be undermined.

Going to a team that's five points clear with a game in hand. Wouldn't really feel like being a PL winner to me, most of the hard work has been done. Bit like getting a cup winners medal when you've only played for half a game in an early round.
Bet he would take it and celebrate like he'd won it on his own, John Terry style!

He just posted this on Instagram?

All that gushing bullshit and then yeah I hope you understand why I want to take this magnificent opportunity

f*** off

Anyone with any shred of decency would've ended that with 'considering this I can confirm I won't be going anywhere this transfer window and will be giving my all for Brighton for the rest of the season' knowing full well he'll get the transfer he wants in the summer

But we live in such a self-centred, impatient, money-grabbing, shitshow of a society that of course he ended it with the former and not the latter. What the f*** has happened to gratitude in this world? Especially considering his supposed upbringing.

*edit I know it is obviously his agent writing that but he went through with posting it. I can't imagine how pissed of TB et all will be right now. I really hope we hold firm on this one

We absolutely can't give in to this, or after Trossard as well, it sets a precedent.

Club should release a statement that says something like:

"Previously we were reluctant to let Caicedo leave, but would have agreed if our asking price was met (which up until now, it hasn't been). But after recent developments, we are now announcing that no offers will be accepted in this transfer window, regardless of value.

We refuse to work with underhand tactics to let players leave for less than their value to us. We look forward to working with Moises for the rest of the season to continue our fantastic progress."
Would be great to see yes, but unfortunately it will be same as that Belgian stroppy git. He'll sulk leaving Roberto no option but to drop him.

Yup said it before. The money doesn't matter. Anything we get for him is going to be huge. What matters if he does leave is that there's gonna be a massive f***ing hole in midfield. And to think Mac will be off in the Summer too..Bleak..

I think we need to toughen up a bit with our “we won’t stand in anyone’s way” policy. If we’re not careful players will walk all over us. We should make it known that public statements like this will not do them any favours.

Many clubs have kept hold of star players through situations like this, I hope we do the same.
Agreed, and this is a golden opportunity for us to make a stand.

Next few days are pivotal for our approach to transfers going forward. Tony and Paul need to hold the line and hold their nerve. It’s getting ridiculous now, big clubs makes noise, player downs tools to force move. f*** him, rot in the reserves for 6 months and send a message to others that we sell when we want.

no way can we reward that behaviour with a transfer. would set a terrible precedent. I mentioned this earlier, exactly what I was worried about. reeks of him being ill advised by agents, however. if he continues to play well for the rest of the season then I'll be inclined to believe that it's exactly that.
