Whilst I'm team RDZ, it is a bit worrying to lose one of our best players, who was one of our best goal scoring threats.
Totally agree with you. But this is not a spat between coach and player that has led to a transfer request. This is simply a player who is engineering a move.

I like to think I have some credibility in the bank here - not a lot - but some. I can share a little on the training ground incident. This is from a club source, who I obviously can’t name, so you can either believe me or not.

Trossard was taking the piss in the training immediately after coming back from the WC. He was late and grumpy, deliberately losing sprints, doing stupid tricks and pretending to fall over during scrimmage sessions - just stupid stuff like that. Despite being told repeatedly by several coaches to focus and train professionally, he basically refused to communicate with the coaches in question. RDZ was watching all this and had a word with a “senior player” (my common sense guess would be Lallana or Dunk, but that is a guess as I say). He basically had a quiet word, Trossard told him to do one, which led to a little pushy-shovey. Trossard then pulled up minutes later with a “calf problem” and went to the treatment room.

As I understand it, this was all one incident. He then basically just left.

That was the first incident.

He was told he needed to come back for training/treatment the next day and didn’t want to until he got an apology from the senior player. He turned up late, didn’t get his apology, RDZ basically told him to man up and stop acting unprofessionally and he just outright left.

RDZ told him to report to the U23s for training and he didn’t.

Can also confirm he has now left the country without permission and the club have no idea where he is, although he appears to have gone to his home in Belgium.
Thanks for sharing this

Does sound a bit like he needed an arm round his shoulders after the WC disappointment, he may well have seen MacAllister having time off celebrating, thought it should have been him and got himself messed up. Not really making excuses for him but he obviously got himself into a bad headspace which has led to this dramatic escalation.
Or that he had decided to move some time ago and that the WC was going to be his shop window. The interest didn't flood in, so he began to agitate for a move.

I don't see anything about the way our club operates to suggest a player who needed support wouldn't have got it.

I don't disagree that he would like to move up in the game, he's made that clear many times - but it's a stretch to go from there to this completely unprofessional behaviour before the transfer window had even opened.

I imagine he got himself in a very bad place where he didn't care about anything, regardless of the clubs efforts to offer support. I've seen it. I've experienced it, most of us have at one time or another. He just did it in a very high profile environment with a manager who found an early opportunity to show who's in charge.

Ah, just speculating, but I do find it hard to believe this was a calculated effort to get a move.

Lallana could give Trossard some advice on how not to leave a club

Be interesting to see if Bloom allows him to leave in this window, would seem best for both parties but I wouldn’t discount him being forced to wait until the summer and ostracised from the squad, as an example. But, do we need a bad apple stinking the place out? I guess a lot will depend on how the rest of the squad feel about him and his actions so far.

Looks like Glenn's Prem League goals record is safe for a while yet.

No one wants to break it!

Yeah agreed, can see Bloom digging his heels in if clubs look to take advantage of our unhappy player.
I'm sure TB would listen to sensible offers £30m+ but there is a fair chance that recent antics have lowered prospective offers considerably.

Anyone else moved onto the stage of feeling excited about who we might sign to replace him? I reckon RDZ would prefer someone quicker than Trossard up there.

Massive respect to De Zerbi to how he is handling this so far.

It's difficult to know exactly how much truth is in what we are reading, but it sounds as if Trossard is having a bit of a mental crisis. It's not normal behaviour and it's not at all charactaristic of him.

It's admirable how De Zerbi continues to offer his support.

Really hope, like De Zerbi suggests, that their relationship comes back stronger after this, and he remains an Albion player.

Ok, no one is really surprised and we must accept that he wants to leave. So let him then.
The team is playing well without him , Mitouma has been a revelation. Let’s cash in , get the most that we can and move on .. That’s life..

Or he spent weeks with a dysfunctional Belgian squad watching Hazard get his way every time, despite Hazard being a shadow of his former self, in a single city full of other top players and agents who could easily tap him up

Very little quality cover if Karou gets injured though. We're weaker with Trossard not in the squad obviously. And equally obviously, he doesn't want to be here.

Too many people are very good at putting 2 and 2 together and making 6. I too hope it is something that can be sorted out. He’s a terrific player when he’s in the right place. We shall see.

But it's happened - and it's out there - this is not people making up stories.

Unfortunately, there are now two options

1. Stick him in the reserves and let him stew for the rest of his contract.
2. Get the best price possible but do not be bullied by his agent or him

He's finished with the Albion. He won't want to play for us - he has engineered this, not the club.

One of our best players - but only for one game in three.

I agree with Dwayne here. This was probably why Facundo was signed. The writing has been on the wall for some with WRT Trossard. If he was happy he'd have signed a new contract.

Whether his replacements are ready or not is another question. They might not be.

Mitoma, I think is almost irreplaceable anyway. He's my player of the season so far.

Trossard's closing statement:

"It is therefore important that Brighton cooperates with a potential transfer during this period and shows a benevolent attitude, which is beneficial to both parties."

Sure. Tell Tony how to handle transfer negotiations.
That'll do it.
The chances of benevolence from the club are very very slim I reckon, this agent didn’t do his homework did he?
