Lower Bourne .Farnham
Aberdeen East End 2 Longside 0 .Scottish Northern League Junior Cup att 70ish ,a park pitch fenced all round no hard standing or cover . It poured down for the first 60 minutes . In normal Scottish tradition despite goals and subs ,injury time in both halves was 0 minutes . £5 admission ,great friendly social club . White pudding,Scotch Pie ,Chips and gravy £7 . Ground 332 .

All trains from Brighton to Lewes this evening are cancelled. A bit of a pisser as I was about to set off for the game against Folkestone. 😡

You missed a very odd game.3 goals in a minute, Lewes played really well in the first half but decided to not bother defending at any point and went 3-2 up. Similar in the second half but remained goalless, due to luck and baf8 finishing. Still we got the win and the weather wasn't as horrendous as feared or as it was last week

Yeah, it was a bit of a damp squib to be honest. Crowd was only 190, lots put off by the torrential downpours. Game was very one-sided as well, with Littlehampton running out comfortable 7-0 winners. New striker D. Fender (I kid you not) scored 4.

I've been relatively quiet about the Golds this season, mainly because it's been a bit of a quiet start. They're settling in quite well at the higher level, sitting comfortably in mid table; had some good away wins but the home form has been poor. Will be getting back into it over the next few weeks, with the enforced Premier League break.

Went to Crowborough Little Common last night.

Crows were 5-1 up at half time but that didn't really reflect the game as it was pretty even. Crowborough were either really good going forward or Little Common were terrible at the back. Crowborough seemed to score or nearly score every time they went forward.

Second half started in the same manner. Common got one back to make it 5-2 only for Crowborough to go up the other end a minute or so later and make it 6-2. Common made it 6-3 with about 10 mins to go and then with what turned out to be almost the last kick of the game made it 6-4. After the goal went in the board went up to say 4 minutes so we thought it could be a grandstand finish if Common could quickly get another but 30 seconds later if that the ref blew for time.

On the subject of referees I've slagged them off enough on this thread so credit where credit is due I thought the fella we had last night was excellent in some very difficult conditions. I think we only saw one yellow all night.

Kudos to anyone who went to a game last night was a truly awful evening weather wise and kudos to the groundsmen for getting games on.

Was at Worthing's had fought 1-0 win v Oxford City last night in challenging weather conditions. Oxford could have been out of sight by half time having hit the post 3 times with no real threat from Worthing.

As I was checking other scores I noticed Taunton's game had been postponed and Bath's abandoned after 5 minutes - thinking must be due to the awful weather. Sadly that wasn't the case at Bath where their striker Alex Fletcher suffered a very serious injury having gone head first into an advertising board after a challenge. Worthing are due to play at Bath on Saturday but that fixture must be in doubt. Hoping for better news soon for the player and his family.

I work with Alex and went to see him on Saturday at Tonbridge where he got the winner.

Flashscores let me know the game had been abandoned and like you I just assumed it was due to the weather. Was devastated to get in to see on twitter what had happened. Alex is a really lovely down to earth lad and very good at both his day job and a cracking player. He made 30 league appearances for Plymouth before he was released. He is loved at Bath and won their player of the season last year.

If I hear anything through work and it is shareable I will post it here.

I was also at the game with a friend who is an Oxford City supporter, it was his 300th Ground and was handing out ferreo rocher at Half Time. painfully unlucky Oxford were with it cannoning off the words work, I counted 5 times. Worthing ground out a good result though, in terrible conditions.

I’d second this, decent friendly club, had a decent range of beers on when we went and good pubs around the town.

Looks like they’ve been entertaining to watch this season too.

I'm glad that you apprfeciated the referee. Too many officials in the lower leagues are the subject of so much abuse & even physical assault on the odd occasion, to the extent that even strike action as been mooted if it continues.

Whilst it is true that the overall standard of officiating is admittedly pretty poor, (certainly in the Southern Combination League), without anyone being prepared to take the job on, we wouldn't have any football to watch .

With the world cup now upon us I will heading into full Groundhopper mode for the next few weeks with loads of grounds to tick off and games to attend. Heading to Whitehawk v Hythe tomorrow afternoon as I'm seeing Courtney Barnett at Brighton Dome so need to stay local, Hawks seem to be flying this season so hoping for a good game tomorrow. Heading to Hanwell after work to see Brighton U21 take on QPR U21s in the Premier League Cup. Not sure where to go on Tuesday but edging towards Lewes v Worthing in the Senior Cup to mix things up a bit, before the Erith derby on Wednesday night, before finishing off with Newport v Gillingham next Saturday to get grounds ticked off. Will be a good time to experience plenty of different levels of football, and see some new parts of the UK as well. Even got a trip up to Blyth planned.

It felt like an uneventful game in hindsight, but both keepers made a fair few excellent saves and Cray defended very well. But we were poor after Cray went down to ten men

It did feel a bit dull, but then again there were loads of chances, and as you say, both keepers made some good saves. The goalmouth scramble right at the start was brilliant, pure pinball wizardry.

Razz could have ended up with a hat-trick on another day.

Worthing AND Bognor in the next week at The Pan.

I will agree with what you have said here, the Cray defence did a good job blocking many shots, especially in the first half. I did think both sides wasted chances, 2 shots by Cray, one in each half went out of the ground.
The sprinkler coming on in the second half was quite amusing, especially when the Cray player decided to try and push it down and soaked himself and another player :lolol:

Is there a problem with the floodlights? The middle of the pitch and especially in front of the dug outs looked very dark.
