Thanks for the civility on here. A bit of a novelty on footy forums. All the best for the rest of the season and beyond.

That's what being L1 gets you. Things don't exactly get widely reported.

Ah damn it!! Told you typing all that out would come back to kick me in the bollocks. I do think his stock is higher than L1 mind, it would have been a coup. Oh well, as you were....

Yep, but I'm not sure that adage applies when you've fallen as far as we have since our previous dalliance.

Thanks. Was it a case that he favoured those players over decent youth prospects as he trusted them more or were there just no exceptional youth lads coming through? I think it's key for the future of our Academy that we demonstrate there's a pathway to the first team. It's the only selling...

Remember we have had him before. An element of our support took time to come to terms with the style, some never have/will accept it but the majority did. We probably are slightly uneducated in terms of appreciation of possession football (we've hardly been spoilt in that regard over the years)...

Yeah, that's very fair. Does it compare unfavourably with what he inherited with yourselves when appointed though? His strength for me always seemed to be in his coaching. In his time with us he got technically limited players like Phil Bardsley, Lee Cattermole and John O'Shea playing in a way...

As I say, we're in transition between owners. I'm hoping that the new owners have their appointments ready to go (chairman included) otherwise it doesn't reflect very well on them and is a bit of an ominous start. Most rumours are saying that Poyet has already had discussions with the sporting...

He's done very, very well at Bordeaux, decently at AEK and in China and abysmally at Betis (it sounds like they were a state though). Most worryingly though, he's not lasted long at any of them. There were generally valid reasons, not necessarily all Poyet's fault, behind each departure.

Supposedly we're due investment and a change of control at the club any day now. More than likely that's the catalyst for Poyet's appointment. A complete restructure is being mooted with a sporting director appointment paramount. Hopefully that will mean an improvement upstairs and better...

If the way his last few appointments have ended are anything to go by then I'd suggest not. He has said he's more interested in working for the right people in his next job, that he feels and he can trust. That's the most important thing to him now rather than country, league, money etc.

Thanks. Did he bring any kids through from your youth set up in his 4 years? Were there any prospects he was dismissive of?

I think Tarrico's still at Bordeaux from Poyet's stint there. I know it's a tough choice between Sunderland and Bordeaux but I'm not convinced he'll be rushing over. Hopefully Poyet can manage without him and it isn't a Clough and Taylor scenario. I'd imagine Oatway will be coming back with him.

Afternoon all. I'm a Sunderland fan, just after your opinions and some information. It's looking like there's a very good chance that Poyet is about to be announced as our new (old) manager. It's a bit of a coup for a League 1 club in my opinion if it happens. We obviously know him well but, as...
