Unless you're Roy Sullivan. Not only was he hit by lightning on seven separate occasions, but he also fought off bears with a stick on 22 separate occasions.
Someone up there seriously wanted this guy dead.

Imagine being friends with this guy. He comes knocking on your door and asks you out for a pint, nah it’s ok Roy think I will give it a miss today

His wife was struck by lightning before they even met too!

LA...wishing it was devon..
Was listening to the radio this past week where chap was talking as an expert on being out in a lightning storm. He definitey said do not lie flat. Make yourself as small as poss in a ball was his answer..

Where is the source of this information?

Everything I understand (and have double-checked from sources that should know) state that lying flat on the ground is one of the more dangerous things you can do if caught in a lightning storm.

I wasn't suggesting to get out of your car and lie in a field face down at the first sign of lightning.
I said if you are caught outside in a lightning storm then you should lay down flat and face down and cover your ears.

Apologies I should have been clearer about the "caught outside" bit.
I should have said something like , caught outside and miles from a car or building.trees are also not a good source of shelter from lightning as they tend to explode.

I read it in the SAS survival guide by lofty Wiseman .

I wonder if the storm moving north in the Channel will hit us or miss us as usual?

Eastbourne looks like it’s taking a hammering.
Sad it’s going east.

Decent storm in BN21. Sky TV gone off.
