Ah, you meant it never happened under CH.

Never happened under any other Albion manager in my lifetime either, apart from maybe under Poyet who at least taught El-Abd and T.Elphick to play the ball on the ground, do five nervous passes sideways to each other, before breathing a sigh of relief and passing it back to Ankergren. Who would then promptly hoof it aimlessly upfield instead of them doing it :wozza:

Shane Duffy hasn't changed one little bit, and never could. Still the same colossus in defence, still the same powerful aerial presence at our corners. The only thing that's changed is Potterball. It's maybe grown up a bit and ditched the meaningless dicking around at the back. Shane was never going buy into that bollox, and rightly so

I think Shane has gone through a massive change. He lost his dad so decided to sort his life out and what I can gather from his interview after the Burnley game, has stopped drinking and change his lifestyle.

Edit: He has also decided to start listening, instead of thinking he knows it all.

Yes it did.

The entire GP and Garcia years were built on passing about the back, relentless passing triangles between goalie and two CB’s. 4.5 years of the same thing. Worked a treat in L1, whilst in the Championship opposition managers just sat back and ignored it.

You and reality have a difficult relation.

Says the man sitting in mums basement surrounded by hundreds of empty pizza boxes. You live in a nice university town with it's own football team. Don't you sometimes think that it would nice to ventur outdoors, tolerate some fresh air and support your local team, rather than going all fetishist over some foreign manager and haranguing fans of the team he somehow managed to wangle a job at that happen to be of the opinion that he's an over-promoted mediocrity?

Under Poyet it used to take 20 passes to reach the halfway line. Under Garcia it used to take about half that number. Tho was never extended number of passes dicking around at the back. These were fully grown players who'd only recently been taught to play the ball on the ground as best they could

I could be absolutely raging but... its glaringly obvious its all about the attention for you. You make comments about how shite TBs strategy of investing in the academy or in facilities because you know people will react to it. You make comments about how poor every new player, manager or idea is, because you know people will react. You make comments on how poor the clubs recruitment strategy is, because you know people will react. Not because you actually believe it, the club is in its longest ever spell in the top division and you are fully aware. And then if you fail to get your attention through this obvious fishing, you go make some silly thread about mental health or about the club not thinking about all those people who forget to charge their phones. All very transparent. Just a normal case of a man with a histrionic personality disorder - might annoy some people but once I saw through you, I've been in the "naw, poor THPP" camp since it cant be easy.

I'd hate to see you absolutely raging then. No, actually I would absolutely LOVE it :lolol:

I know OG got us to the play offs, but so often we were boring to watch, especially at home.

One factor in my decision to then take a break from going to games.

That does somewhat reinforce the suggestion that your entire online persona is a desperate bid for any form of attention.

I’m not so worried about the Dominic Calvert-Lewin threat in the air now. His little tactic of isolating himself with Ben White whilst avoiding Dunk & Webster is not going to work. There is a new man in town.

There must have been games last season where GPott muttered words to the effect of:-

'F**k it, my shite ain't working, I wish Duffy were here so I can at least get out with a point'.
If not he really should have been.

Sometimes you've just gotta roll your selves up and grind your way through.

A happy Duffy is certainly worth keeping around. There's certainly a suggestion within his words that he wasn't prepared to learn before and was occasionally an arsehat. Whether his damascene conversion is enough to keep him here beyond this season I've no idea, but even if this proves to be but a brief coda to his Brighton career it is a joyful and glorious one.
