I’m not angry, I just expected better from you…

This independent shite and that Sussex live one are on the ban list on here - for good reason!

Apologies. That was a schoolboy error. Or school caretaker, to be strictly accurate.

Reports in a couple of places that Roma enquired about Nunez, looks like theyre primarily after Tammy Abraham though......Interesting thing from reports is his agent claims that Benfica want 45 million euros (not 40 as published before) thats a cool 38 million quid.

Cant see this being a runner at those prices??

Darwin Núñez's agent confirms contacts with AS Roma

Benfica forward is on José Mourinho's list for the new season.

Darwin Núñez's agent, Edgardo Lasalvia, confirmed late this Monday night that he has already been contacted by AS Roma, team coached by Portuguese coach José Mourinho, in order to carry out a transfer this summer.

Asked by the Italian portal RomaNews about the rumors that point the Uruguayan international to the Giallorosso emblem, the businessman assumed: "Yes, we had some contacts with AS Roma".

The same publication also adds that this will not be a simple operation, since the management led by Rui Costa has already made it known that it only admits giving up the player for around 45 million euros.

AS Roma's survey of Darwin Núñez comes at a time when the football structure headed by Tiago Pinto is looking for a new solution for the attacking front, since, it seems, Edin Dzeko will be leaving for Inter Milan .

His agent is full of it. No one is going to be paying 45m Euros for a player on the basis of one very average season in a Championship-level league. Although, at least it's more credible than the story of him going to City for £113m.

I can't see us being interested at those prices. However, if Roma bag Tammy A for c£37m then it leaves Nunez at Benfica. If there is no bidding war for him then we'll see if Benfica are being honest with their stance that they won't sell unless it's silly money.

Oh sh*t! Looks like desperation all over again. Bennfica think they have got us over a barrel, and sadly it looks as if they might have a point.

They might want to sell - so just walk away now, come back with an offer slightly less than Benfica paid a year ago, because he hasn't shone for them, far from it. Meanwhile, the chase for £20-£30M strikers who are no better than what we've got goes on relentless.

Darwin Nuñez stays at Benfica at least until December, says Agent
10 Aug, 2021 - 16:34 • Newsroom

Forward was linked to Brighton and Roma, but will stay at Benfica, where he is recovering from a knee injury.

Darwin Nuñez will not leave Benfica in the summer transfer window, guarantees the player's manager, Edgardo Lasalvia. Speaking to the Uruguayan ESPN, the agent admits to polls, but explains that the 22-year-old spearhead will stay.

"We had some polls for Darwin, but there was never a formal offer. There were conversations and we were asked about him. In principle, Darwin will stay at Benfica at least until December of this year," he began by saying.

The Uruguayan was associated with Brighton, from the Premier League, as well as with Roma, from José Mourinho, but will remain in the eagles until the next market. Darwin has not been an option at the start of the season and is recovering from a knee injury that has ruled him out of competition since the end of last season.
Darwin Nuñez is the most expensive reinforcement in the history of Portuguese football, with Benfica having paid 24 million euros to Almería for his signing.

Benfica have signed Yaremchuk forward this summer, which could reduce Darwin's opportunities in Jorge Jesus' options. For now, Seferovic, Rodrigo Pinho, Carlos Vinícius and Gonçalo Ramos are the remaining options.

The 22-year-old forward scored 14 goals in 44 games last season for Benfica

One thing that strikes me about this whole saga, is this is the SECOND time we're getting mucked about over this player. His agent had clearly been talking s**t again. The whole City interested for £113m is ludicrous, but what it tells me is if we did somehow land this guy this summer (i don't think we will) and if he had an alright season with us, his agent will be talking up a move away at the earliest opportunity. He already doesn't appear to be particulalry impressed by the club. I'm not really sure thats the sort of player I want at the club.

He’s bloody injured. Not sure why we don’t get batshuayi or ORIGI on loan. Would be fine with me and then Loan connolly out in January and go for Nunez then when his value would have dropped if he’s not going to play much if he’s injured + have five strikers

These aren't the players you're looking for.

His agent is a fellow Uruguayan and Nunez is by far his biggest client. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jorge Mendes or one of the other 'super agents' poach him before too long.

Not that that would stop him being hawked around at every opportunity.

Whichever striker we do eventually sign, just a single fruitful season with us will have the bigger clubs sniffing around, regardless. It just the ugly nature of elite football.

No doubt the club know this and perhaps it makes sense for a club our size to have loads of players who will score no more than 10 goals each. As it makes them less apealing to poachers?

Good point. I hadn't thought of that.

Another good point. That's two in a row.

This is a worrying development for NSC.

All this huffing and puffing over a striker every season is getting really boring, Southampton got the job done in a couple of days cheaper deal and probably just as likely to score goals in the PL as Nunez is.

Maybe they don't do as much research? Maybe they pay over the odds? We'll see. But Southampton have bought a lot of dross over the past few years. I'm not sure we should be following their recruitment model.
