I find it hard to believe that left of a back three is his preferred position. He seems a lot less comfortable coming out with the ball from that side. From the right of a two he looks a lot more assured to me, maybe it's just a misperception on my behalf. I've heard it said before that's his strongest position but I've seen no evidence of it.

He was superb just before his injury.
Pretty sure he played on the left for the vast majority of his appearances.
There was some stat about having the highest percentage of completed dribbles in Europe.

So (whilst I agree with the fact he's stronger on the right) I don't think he struggled last season on the left.

If we go back to a 4, Dunk on the left and Webster on the right is a rock solid pairing, but might limit Webster's options to drive forward.

I agree he was superb - he was magnificent all season really and it's harsh on him that he wasn't POTS. I certainly would never use the word "struggled" to describe him last season, first season definitely. But not last season. If the man himself feels more confident from the left of a three, then fair enough - but that's not how he appears to me. I have been wrong before, though!

He's worth the new deal based on this tackle alone.

Quite possibly one of my favourite players right now.

Hope he has another great season and works his way to a deserved England call up.

Quite possibly? So you’re not sure who is?

I think keeping Webster had to be a bigger priority than keeping White. Delighted we've got him tied down to a new 5 year contract, I think it suits both him and the club. Hopefully he'll be partnering Dunk for the next 5 years in the Premier League and they'll go down as the best CB pairing we've ever had. Especially considering they're both Sussex boys.

I was actually thinking of this tackle and was about to ask if anyone can find a clip of it just before I saw your post. So cheers.

Superb defender and a really nice, friendly bloke too. I would've been more gutted had it been Webster going to Arsenal. He improved so much last season, just think of the levels he could hit this season!
