[Football] Empty seats

Sorry but I know of no one who wants to or can afford it, that doesnt have a ST. On rare occasions one of our group doesnt go ticket is usually given to someone that cant afford it or cant justify the spend. The last thing I would say about anyone we have taken is to refer to them as freeloaders.
On a general note the club were aware that many who couldnt go to all the games or could not afford one were sharing a ST. To solve this it is good they have created sharing albeit at additional cost. Because this problem is solved I really dont think passing a ticket on is a big problem. It will only be the odd game people will miss and many will use ticket exchange.

Ticket exchange not an option when the club can’t sell the empty seats they’re already trying to shift……

Unless it's charged, they don't actually sell tickets from the exchange until all other tickets have sold out.

Got to admit that has always been a bugbear of mine. Now season tickets will be harder to pass on there is likely to be a few more STHs wanting to sell on the exchange but likely to be frustrated waiting for the club's tickets to sell first.

Whether you agree or not people are only stating an opinion. Because of the £25 charge there will be a lot more empty seats. Among our group several times unable to sell tickets on club exchange and ended up giving ( persuading ) a friend to take ticket. It is a fact these seats will now remain empty

Exactly this. I understand why the club have done it but bottom line is this will create a lot more empty seats. Certainly this year if I can't go my seat will be empty and the same for the friends I go with. The days of asking someone with a very casual interest in football on the day if they fancy watching a match are gone. Whether that works out financially for the club I don't know but it will certainly look worse and they will lose out on food/drink etc. Shame and, in my humble opinion, a backwards step.

Still in Brighton
I predict 15,000 empty seats at kick off for the Watford match………15,000 fans outside fannying about with their phones still trying to get in :)

After the Man City game i can certainly see this for the first few games - the readers weren't reading the phone tickets well and big backlog. Would advise getting there early............

I went to all 4 home games last season including the Chelsea test event and used my iPhone on each occasion.

I think patience is the key to getting the ticket saved on your phone to work. Tricky I know, when we just want to get in and get a pie and a pint!!

I came unstuck for two of the games when it looked on my iPhone as though the ticket had been read. I lifted my phone off but I didn't get the green light and the gate didn't open.

For the City game I just held the phone in position until I got the green light. Just need a couple of extra seconds - or at least that's how it seemed.

They won’t be the types to gob off all day on NSC about it but reckon plenty won’t go yet because of the huge spike in infections. Lots seem to have caught it going to Wembley, throw in the crowded trains and it won’t be great. Plenty double jabbed people catching it and feeling like shit albeit you mostly don’t die

Sorry if it's been covered already but I can't seem to list my ticket for the Watford game on the exchange, I click the button that says "Resell my seat" and nothing happens.

Has the match sold out yet?

I believe the exchange is only open once it's rammed.

What is your issue with the club’s approach? Surely it’s right that they want to sell empty seats (and take the all the money) before reselling a season ticket and having to pass some of the money to the season ticket holder?

However once there’s only the odd single seat available it does make sense to open the exchange where groups of seats may be available. I don’t know whether this is done or not.

Purely selfish point of view as someone whose seat hasn't sold on the exchange a few times.

Seems fair enough. Some people who weren't ever going to fork out to buy a ticket can't now get in for free.

Cool. Works for me. I'd rather see people who actually want to be at the game rather than a bunch of randoms sit in silence for the whole game and clog up the bars/trains.

I always think these comments are harsh. All of us who have STs are either fortunate to afford it or in some cases giving up things so they can. Must be realised that PL football is very expensive and many out there who certainly cant afford a ST and find it hard to justify spending on a matchday ticket. Sums up when at cup game against Palace several round us were there because tickets were £15, and all true supporters with albion scarves, Certainly when one of our group hasnt gone ticket gone to someone in this position.

One minute you claim you have to "persuade" people to take a ST seat that one of your group can't use - then in the same thread you claim these same people are "all true supporters with albion scarves." ???

They don’t want to spend any money and they don’t really want to go at all. I actually feel a bit sorry for them having to watch the Albion when they would rather be at home washing their hair.

Dont know what you are getting at.
My first comment was that when one of our group cant go we give to someone that could not afford a ticket and sometimes have to persuade someone . The other comment was that I met several at a cup game who were keen on Albion but were only there because they could afford discounted tickets.
All I was trying to emphasis was many out there that cant afford a ticket and if they accept a free ticket on offer from a contact I think it is harsh to call them freeloaders etc. Dont worry there wont be anymore freeloaders attending

The mad thing is, if somebody really is a "true supporter with Albion scarves" who cannot afford either the money or the time to commit to (i) buying one-off matchday tickets regularly or (ii) buying a ST, this scheme is a godsend for them. I am in this category.

All they need to do is spend a bity of time and effort cultivating good relationships with a small network of STHs and on the occasions one of these STHs can't attend they may be offered use of the ticket. All for £28 a year. Potentially they could attend many / most home games for a total outlay of £28 plus whatever 'thank you' arrangement they come to with the donor-STH.

I’ve given your posts a thumbs up but I’m really not keen about knowing any more about your ‘thank you arrangements’
