I didn't think i'd get into this one ... but I was wrong.

The Olympics reminds us all, that the things sport needs is context and jeopardy. Once you have those, even sports you've never watched become fascinating

For me, it's much the same as any time there's live sport on - if the TV is on, I prefer to watch it over 99% of the general TV content. I will enjoy watching something like crown green bowls a thousand times more than some reality shite, a soap or (sport aside) anything on ITV.
So I guess I'd say that I enjoy watching it, without being particularly interested in the Olympics thing as a whole. If there's a choice between a non-olympic sport I have a genuine interest in (e.g. cricket), I will watch that instead of the Olympics (GB medal hope or not).

I watched the Opening Ceremony and thought because of the time difference, I really wouldn't watch that much. I stayed up until 1am gripped by the triathlon last night. I have watched a ton of stuff that I have never watched before as well.

Really great stuff.

I was watching the Womens Beach Volleyball and there was a wrist injury only 2 minutes in, but I think I should be alright by Thursday.

The Olympics is fantastic. I don't watch taekwondo/diving for 4 years but I'm suddenly an expert for 3 or 4 days. It's brilliant to see different sports at their absolute pinnacle.

I'm not interested in ITV's Tipping Point, so I don't watch it.

I didn't realise this was required information to share.

Nope. Should have been cancelled. Empty stadiums. Too many sports, most of which I would have no interest in anyway. Fell out of live with the olympics 20 - maybe even 30 or 40 years ago. The IOC as an organisation seems to me to be too much like FIFA or UEFA.

Find it hard to believe football is a sport, as I have no interest in any other. At least now we have a million TV channels, it used to drive me mad that so much TV time was dedicated to it. Felt the same about poncey Wimbledon.

It's the legacy that counts.

If one youngster is inspired by watching a competitor to get off their @rse and stop fiddling with their phone then it might produce another winner down the line.

I'm inspired and motivated to #######s right now, I'm dusting down the Speedos and off to the local baths.

Love it. One of the highlights (completely unexpected) was the skateboarding yesterday. Everything about it is so fantastically bizarre. No team 'uniform', dudes going through the course with earphones in (one of the USA fellas was even fiddling around with his phone before one of his runs) and the majority of riders falling over :lolol:

The rest of it is great. Caught up with some of the highlights this morning, like the triathlon, diving, swimming. The cycling – in all forms is great too. After the unfancied Austrian woman won by a minute yesterday, the Team GB winning the mountain bike with relative ease was astonishing.

Love them!

The eight hour time difference ahead is tainting it a bit this time in Japan but what a start to a Monday morning with the gold rush! The ultimate for an athlete, swimmer, diver, maybe even footballer. And the coverage on BBC is excellent. Love the presenting team too with Dan Walker, Sam Queq, Hazel Irvine, Claire Balding etc all knowing their stuff with passion!

Me too.

I have my laser focussed penalty takers for the world cup.

1.Adam Peaty
2.Tom Pidcock
3.Matty Lee
4.Tom Daley
5.Max Whitlock

All unbreakable under pressure and on a fraction of the money of one of our penalty takers.

The only issue is 2 of them are Leeds bred!

I seriously think winners like these should be teaching their mindset to the England team.

No doubt there will be a Yorkshire medal table produced at the end of the Olympics.
